Eat, Shop & Be Merry at Christmas Markets in Toronto

It’s December! Get ready for the month to fly by in a whirlwind of shopping, baking, parties, and my favourite….Christmas markets! I still dream of the time I went to Germany and visited their amazing Christmas markets. Toronto isn’t Berlin, but we get by just fine with all of the fab holiday markets that we have. This year, there are more markets than ever! Here’s a guide for you to sip and shop your way through them all.

Toronto Christmas Market 2014

Toronto Christmas Market: Nov 18 – Dec 22 at the Distillery District Admission: $6 on Fri- Sun

Toronto’s most well loved and biggest Christmas market, this market takes over the Distillery district. Visitors can take in the giant Christmas tree, sip hot chocolate at Soma and enjoy the many food and craft vendors. It can get incredibly crowded on weekends, but it’s still my favourite. Hours: T- Th 12pm to 10:00pm, Sat: 10am to 10pm, Sun: 10am to 9pm

Yorkville Village launches their Holiday Market, open to the public from December 2nd - 22nd and located in The Lane at 136 Yorkville Avenue (CNW Group/First Capital Realty)

Yorkville Village Holiday Market: Dec. 2 – 22 at Yorkville Village

This market is brand new as well. Stalls include Teatro Verde Greens Market, Petite Etoile, Reynah Armure, Lindo F and the Brika Pop-Up Shop. There will be performances, DIY laser cut Christmas ornaments and more! Hours: M-W 10am to 7pm T & F 10am to 8pm, Sat 10am to 6pm, Sun 11am – 6pm

Union Station Holiday Market: Dec 5 – 16 in the Oak Room at Union Station

Located in the biggest transportation hub in Toronto, this market is always delightful. This year, they have 20 vendors including MoRoCo Chocolat, Knixwear, Foxy Jewelry, and some pop ups. Pop up vendors include Papabubble (Dec. 5-7) and Love Bot (Dec 8-10 &16). Hours: M-F: 730am – 7pm, Weekends: 10am – 6pm

Holiday Fair in the Square: December 8 – 23 at Nathan Phillips Square (100 Queen St W)

chrisThis brand new market will support Epilepsy Toronto. Visitors will find a traditional European Christmas market in the heart of downtown with games, food vendors and shopping. Hours: M-F: 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Weekends: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Winter Village at Evergreen Brick Works: Dec 10 to Feb 28 at the Brick Works (550 Bayview Ave)
Enjoy the Street Food Market with 15+ vendors serving internationally-inspired flavours. Etsy vendors will be on hand selling all sorts of holiday gifts. A bonus is that you can visit the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays while you’re here!
