Dinner at the Green Eggplant

The Green Eggplant in the Beaches serves up home style Mediterranean food. I visited for the first time earlier this month.

When I arrived on a Tuesday evening, it was busy! I had expected it to be a slow night, but was really happy to see that it was busy. It made me even more excited to try the food.
Each meal at the Green Eggplant starts with complimentary bread and their 3 homemade dips (hummus, tzatziki and baba ganoush). The dips were fresh and tasty. My favourite was the hummus.

The Green Eggplant has a huge menu featuring house specials like chicken skewers, steak, chicken schnitzel and more. The rest of the menu consists of a dizzying array of burgers, pastas, salads and sandwiches. They also have a full bar offering cocktails, beer and wine. I kicked off my meal with…

Next, we had some starters.

Bruschetta

I loved the unique presentation of the bruschetta. The tomato topping was piled high in the middle, and the toasted bread was a perfect base for the tomatoes.

Soon, the food started to arrive. Our group, a pretty seasoned room of food bloggers, were blown away by the huge portions and amazing looking dishes that were arriving at the table.

I was forewarned that the chicken schnitzel would be huge….

But it was REALLY huge. You can’t really tell from the photo, but it was massive. Delicious chicken breast hand breaded and fried. Mmmm. I couldn’t finish it, and it ended up making great leftovers.

After eating here, it’s easy to see why the Green Eggplant is bustling, even on a Tuesday night. Huge portions, friendly service and good food makes this spot a winner. I can’t wait to take my family here!
