Mildred Temple Kitchen has long been on my list of where to eat. It’s a bit of a trek for me (liberty village), so I made a special effort to book it this year!
Their space wowed me. It’s such a lovely, well designed, modern space. It was also way bigger than I expected. There was an open area where you could watch the chefs.
The service was good, if a bit impersonal. Out waiter took our orders and quietly served our food. Not a lot of interaction. It didn’t matter though, because we were busy eating. They started us off with warm cheddar thyme biscuits with sweet butter. The biscuits were flaky and were a perfect way to start the meal.
The lobster tortilla soup was a lemongrass soup with Nova Scotia lobster and interesting tortilla hay pieces. I had the crunchy panko-crusted shrimp and crab cakes with a tangy chili-lime emulsion.
Next up was my dauntingly tall Mildred Temple burger. It was simply dressed with delicious crispy tobacco onions and a sweet tomato relish. The burger was served on a freshly baked bun. It was so good! My friend had the pan roasted halibut, with a succotash of shell beans & charred squash. She loved that it was topped with crispy kale.
Finally it was dessert! My friend had the crème caramelwith caramel sauce and I had profiteroles (that I could barely finish, so full!) filled with Lindt milk chocolate ice cream It was so good, I need to find out where to buy that ice cream!
