I love being pleasantly surprised. Who doesn’t? I went out for Winterlicious lunch with my coworkers to a nearby brew pub. I had heard good things about it, and when I saw that they were participating in Winterlicious with a 3 course lunch for $18, I knew I had to go.
Batch looks unassuming from the outside, but is actually huge. They brew their own beer and it also looks like the serve up a great brunch. Our lunch came quickly, which we appreciated!
It was a tough decision for me, but I chose the Beer and potato soup instead of the housemade pretzel.
The Smoked beef croquette hooked me. It was the perfect addition to the creamy soup, and it was crisp and filled with smoked beef.
I’m not going to lie though- when I saw the pretzel I did have some serious regret. By all accounts it was delicious. I’ll definitely try this when I return!

Spicy fried chicken sandwich, hot sauce, tomato, lettuce, ranch mayo and house fries

Fried haddock sandwich, tartar sauce and house fries
Now on to the main courses! I had the Fried Haddock Sandwich. The fish was very fresh and the batter was light and not greasy. The housemade chips were unexpectedly amazing! Crispy and huge- the entire table loved these. I also need to mention the bun. It was a fantastic bun, and got bonus points for being made in house!

Sticky toffee pudding, vanilla soft serve

House made donut, lemon curd, raspberry cream
Finally, we ended with dessert. I had the house made donut. It was dense and not overly sweet, with a delicious lemon curd filling. We all enjoyed our meal very much, and would definitely return to Batch. In fact, one of my coworkers made a reservation to come back to Bath with his girlfriend!
It’s not too late, book your Winterlicious there before Feb.9th! http://batchtoronto.com/
