One day, while at Pearson Airport for a press trip, a woman walked by me with a beautiful blue Heys suitcase. It was love at first sight! I admired it and went on my way. A month later, I was walking past Bentley and I noticed the suitcase in the window! It was fate.
I’m very particular about my suitcases. You’ll never catch me with a plain black suitcase. First of all, it’s really hard to spot on the luggage carousal. Second of all, I like to make a statement when I travel, and this is an easy way to do it. My current collection includes a polka dot suitcase, one covered with Canadiana illustrations and now, this one!
My Heys Blue Agate suitcase from Bentley is gorgeous. It’s a hard shell case with a divided interior with fun stripes.
I took it along with me on a holiday trip to Sint Maarten’s. Before this trip, I didn’t know much about this tiny Caribbean island. Half of the island belongs to the Netherlands, and the other half belongs to the French. I stayed on the Netherlands side at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort.

One of the most popular things to do in Sint Maarten’s is to visit the beach near the airport. It’s more popular than you would think. The beach is packed daily with tourists watching the planes come in low for a landing at the nearby airport.
It’s surprisingly dangerous to witness the jet fuel blast from the large jets that take off. Sand goes flying everywhere, and it hurts! I even saw people fall into the ocean and lose their hats. As long as you watch from a safe distance it’s very cool to witness.
Other than that, I spent my time watching sunsets, feeding iguanas cherries and lazing by the pool. Not a bad way to spend a week in December!
When it was time to return to the frozen land of Canada, I packed up my suitcase and was ready to go. I’m a chronic over packer, so I loved the fact that I was able to expand my suitcase to fit all of my new purchases (hello, guava berry rum!) in it.
All in all, this suitcase was perfect for a tropical getaway. The best part? Bentley has a big sale on them right now! You can snag these for 75% off. Check it out!
