When I went to Orlando, I expected sunshine, beaches and a bit of Disney magic. I got all of that…with the added bonus of an assortment of delicious local foods.
My first meal was in the lovely B.Resort. I really enjoyed my stay here, but what I enjoyed even more was the food!
American Kitchen serves up fresh, local foods. They even grow their herbs in house. In the morning, they serve up a delicious breakfast buffet complete with Mickey waffles and custom made omelettes. I ate dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Some highlights include: (more…)
At the end of the summer, I visited Boston for the first time, and loved it The entire city is steeped in history, they have beautiful gardens and plenty of shopping. When it was time to leave I wish I could have stayed a bit longer!
We drove to Boston from Toronto, and underestimated both Boston and Toronto traffic. Because of that, we checked in a little late to the Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel.
We stayed in a room with 2 Queen beds with luxe Frette linens and funky wallpaper with unique metallic accents.
The amenities in the bathroom included bath and body items from Atelier Bloem. They smelled wonderful, and I appreciated that they included a set for everyone staying in the room.
We were greeted with some delicious treats wating for us in our room upon check in. I love that FRED water! Such nice design.
We took advantage of a unique program that the Kimpton has called Guppy Love. We borrowed a goldfish for the night!
This little guy hung out with us, and arrived with his own food. It was a nice touch!
As is the norm with all Kimptons, the staff were friendly, helpful and warm. If you feel like biking around town, you can always borrow one of their custom bikes.
In the lobby, the hotel offers a wine tasting hour daily from 5pm to 6pm. I had a refreshing glass of rose after a day filled with wandering around the city.
The location of the Nine Zero is amazing. Right across the street is the Granary Burial Ground, the third oldest (founded in 1660!) graveyard in Boston. Some notable figures have been laid to rest there, and you can go on tours.
Further down the street, the Boston Common claims the title of the oldest park in the USA. This bustling urban park was wonderful to stroll through. We even walked over to the public gardens and admired the beautiful weeping willows.
Last but not least, the hotel is within walking distance of several shops, including my absolute favourite store, Primark!! I didn’t even realize it was in the USA. It was the best!
Not the wandering type? Need a little guidance? The Kimpton Nine Zero has you covered with Ricardo Rodriguez, their Style & Experience Curator. He’s pulled together a curated selection of lifestyle retailers that have partnered with the hotel to offer guests exclusive experiences and discounts around the city. Sounds awesome, right? Check out his recommendations and their Live Like a Local program. Happy exploring!
Although I had never been to Cambridge, Massachusetts, checking into the Kimpton Marlowe felt like returning to an old friend. As you may or may not know, I’m kind of in love with the Kimpton hotels. I’ve traveled a fair bit now, and the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Portland is what I use to measure how much I like other hotels. True story. (more…)
I am the furthest thing from sporty that you’ll probably ever see in your life. I don’t watch sports, I don’t play sports, I am decidedly “arty” if I had to pick a clique. Growing up in Canada playing piano, doing ballet and choosing to go to an art university pretty much summed that up for me.
Heaven exists, and part of it is in New Orleans, where one can get piping hot beignets 24/7 at Cafe du Monde. Twenty. Four. Seven. They are always open, and always making pillowy squares of deliciousness. (more…)
One of my favourite things about traveling is to discover small hotels. I would much rather stay in a cool hostel or a unique hotel than a big box hotel.
That’s why I was so happy that I was invited to stay at the International House Hotel on my trip to New Orleans! This whimsical hotel is within walking distance of all the New Orleans hot spots- the French Market, Bourbon Street and the French Quarter are just steps away. (more…)
On a beautiful afternoon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana we set off to eat our way through downtown Baton Rouge on a C’est Si Bon Food Tour, hosted by the lovely Kimberley Harper from Baton Rouge Food Tours. (more…)
