Hotel Metro in London, Ontario

I have this weird thing where I like to look up boutique hotels in different cities, so I know where I would want to stay if I ever visited. (Clearly I have too much spare time.)

Hotel Metro was on my list ever since I came across them years earlier online. So, I was really happy to see that I’d been booked into the Hotel Metro for my visit to the Food & Wine Show! Hotel dreams do come true.

Eaton Chelsea Hotel in Toronto

The Eaton Chelsea Hotel may be one of the best kept secrets in Toronto. At least to this local girl. It was obvious when I checked in that this wasn’t a secret to travelers around the world. The hotel was very busy with families, couples and businesses travelers checking in.

The Eaton Chelsea hotel was given a fresh re-branding in July. This is Canada’s largest hotel with 1500 guest rooms! And it’s right in the heart of downtown Toronto. There are four restaurants and lounges in the hotel including Bb33 Bistro & Brasserie, Monarchs Pub, Market Garden and Elm Street Lounge. Click here to find out more.

I enjoyed my stay in a t 315 ft Deluxe King room. The bed was comfy and the room was spacious, with a nice view! Although the hotel was busy and my room faced the street, the room was very quiet. I loved the little sitting area, and was pampered with their customised bathroom amenities.

Complimentary amenities included:
• Hotel-wide Wi-Fi Internet
• Iron and ironing board
• In-room coffee and tea
• LCD flat screen TV

All in all, this is a large hotel with cozy rooms and a fantastic location.

The Eaton Chelsea, Toronto is at 33 Gerrard Street West, Toronto, Ontario.

The Treadwell Inn in St. Andrews, New Brunswick

I was lucky enough to stay in the gorgeous historic Treadwell Inn during my stay in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea in New Brunswick.

The rooms were beautiful. My spacious room had a comfortable double bed, clean washroom and lots of natural light. Of course, WiFi was readily available. My favouite part of my room was….

….the balcony with Muskoka chairs and a view of the ocean! I curled up and watched the sunset.

The view from my balcony!

In the morning, breakfast was served downstairs in a charming room. Some guests get really comfortable. A guest came down in (we’re pretty sure) bare feet and only his bathrobe. It truly feels like home!

The Treadwell Inn is right in the historic district of St.Andrews-by-the-Sea with lots of shops and tiny cafes to keep you occupied. Speaking of shops, foodies will be pleased to see that there is an gourmet olive oil store attached to the inn!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The owners were very friendly, the Inn the beautiful and the location was convenient.

Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown

When I checked into the Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown, I wasn’t expecting much other than a comfortable bed. I did get that…but also a whole lot more!

The hotel was very modern and fresh, but still very comfortable. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, the staff was very friendly.

The lobby is spacious and has a library for you to work in or just read a book. The lobby also has complimentary coffee and tea, which is always a great perk.

The hotel also has a pool if you enjoy swimming, free airport transfer and free WiFi. The hotel is smack in the middle of downtown Buffalo, so you can’t beat the location. Niagara Falls is about 10 minutes away.

I was traveling with my whole family, and we had decided to share a room. We all agreed that the beds were extremely comfortable, and we all liked the simple, elegant decor.

I have this thing against beige hotel rooms, so I really appreciated the pretty, swirly carpet and the slate grey walls.

My sister and I loved the bathroom, because it was huge and had plenty of towels for a family of 4!

Without a doubt, the free breakfast the next morning was the best part of our stay. All guests at the Hampton Inn & Suites enjoy a free hot breakfast. (not continental!)

The breakfast was beyond my expectations. It included: bacon (!), scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, English muffins, fruit, pastries and waffles.

Yeah, that’s right. You get to make your own waffle. They have a machine with batter and a cast iron waffle maker. You could potentially have unlimited waffles, although the breakfast is pretty filling, so one will probably do.

Another favourite was the healthier choice of Kashi cereal, along with your usual staples of Fruit Loops and Frosted Flakes. Also, how cute is that to-go cup?

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn. I highly recommend that you stay here if you are ever in Buffalo! Oh, and do the Silo City Tour and visit the art gallery.

Cambria Shores Inn

The Cambria Shores Inn felt like home, and we were sorry that we only had one night to spend there. As you pull up to the inn, you can see the Pacific ocean right across the street. Big Muskoka chairs are set up in front of the inn for you to enjoy the view.

The view from your back door!

My comfortably appointed room had a soft bed with a reclaimed wooden headboard, a fireplace, a small kitchenette and a little patio to watch the sunset on. The bathroom was the best! It had a small tub and a large glass shower, with an awesome shower head. I also loved the view of the ocean from the patio.

The room cozy touches, like a basketful of books, small artworks on the wall and my favourite- a notebook beside the bed! The notebook was filled with notes from people who had stayed in that room before. The notes were funny, touching and intimate. It was something that I’ve never seen done in another hotel, and I loved it.

In the morning, a treat awaits you. Included with your day is a basket of breakfast. It gets left outside of your door in the morning. It’s filled with fresh orange juice, fruit, yogurt and small baked goods. Perfect to sustain you after you return from your walk on the beach.

Moonstone Beach is a beautiful beach with a lovely boardwalk. When the tide is out, you can visit the tiny tidal pools and find sea creatures inside!

The Cambria Shores Inn is also dog friendly! You can travel with your pet and they even have doggie treats. If you aren’t a dog, that’s okay. They also have people treats! In the evening, enjoy a fresh-baked brownie.

Cambria is the perfect place to stop on your road-trip from San Francisco to L.A. It’s halfway! With its tide pools, elephant seals and friendly accommodations, it makes perfect sense.

Cambria Shores Inn is located at 6276 Moonstone Beach Dr  Cambria, CA 93428

Hotel Monaco in Portland

West Coast 20133

From the moment I entered the Hotel Monaco, in Portland, I knew that this was my kind of place. Was it the funky wallpaper and the bird lamp at the front desk? Maybe the plush lounge serving up free wine? Possibly all of these things. One thing was for certain I wasn’t wrong. The Hotel Monaco is amazing, and it’s my favourite hotel from my West Coast trip.

I’ve never seen so much awesome packed into one place. From the floral pattern in the sink, to the Portland illustration on the tiles in the bathroom shower, to the beautiful branch inspired chair and mirror….everything is amazing! If you love design and tiny details, do yourself a favour and stay here. Trust me.

My room was a fabulous Monaco King Suite. The large 550 sq room was divided by a pair of french doors. The living room had a Queen sofa sleeper and it’s own flat screen television. The bedroom had a comfy King pillow top sleeper and a flat screen TV. It’s the perfect room to share with friends or another couple, because it allows you to have your own space.

Also…the bathroom is huge! Aside from being spacious, it also had gorgeous line drawings of Portland buildings and bridges as wallpaper.

The wallpaper really needs a special shout out. Wallpaper all too often gets a bad rap of being tacky and dated. I think that the Monaco did an amazing job at decorating the room with fresh, modern wallpaper prints.

When you are ready to venture from your room, this hotel is in a great area. You can walk to Powell’s City of Books, and to the SW 9th and Alder food truck pod, with over 60+ food carts. You are also very close to the Pearl District, which is filled with shops and restaurants.

Lets not forget that this hotel is a Kimpton, and comes with the typical fantastic Kimpton Perks!

– Free bicycle rentals for guests (and the bikes have been specially designed for Kimpton)

Hosted Wine Hour- Yes, you heard correctly. At almost all Kimpton Hotels, you can enjoy free wine hand-picked by their master sommelier.

Free WiFi and snacks if you join their free rewards program Kimpton InTouch

-Free beverages in the lobby! Free flavoured water and lemonade/iced tea in the lobby in the afternoon, and free coffee and Mighty Leaf Tea (yes!)  in the morning.

Raid the Mini Bar: Kimpton InTouch members get to sneak  treats for up to $10! It’s such a great idea, and something that I haven’t seen any other hotel do before. The mini bar is particularly awesome– filled with local, gourmet and handy items (like a razor or a mini first aid kit)

To sum it up, I fell in love with the Hotel Monaco. Of course, don’t just take my word for it. Read the bulletin board with messages of happy Hotel Monaco customers that they keep for you to read as you exit the hotel garage.

I agree with everything said there. I also want to live at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco forever. Please?
