It’s a little bittersweet, but it’s the last month of summer! Here to take the sting away from the end is the CNE rolling into town. This annual exhibition is a tradition that I never miss! The CNE runs from August 18th to September 4th this year.
This summer on the bandstand visitors can catch live performances from Kiefer Sutherland, Sam Roberts Band, A Tribe Called Red and Dear Rouge.
Food lovers, don’t fret. There’s always something new and delicious to try at the CNE. This year the CNE will be hosting a East Coast VIP Lobster Dinner. VIP Patrons will be seated in an exclusive area on Princes’ Blvd. illuminated by overhead Edison lights with a live soundtrack provided by the Celtic Rock Warrior Band, the Mudmen. Dinner will include a luscious Lobster with traditional sides of potato salad, (and) corn on the cobb all catered by Picton’s The Sand and Pearl. Tickets are $141 per person.
This year, the CNE will be unveiling a sign much like the icon TORONTO sign at City Hall. The 8 foot tall sign will spell CNE and include a maple leag. It’s sure to be popular with Instagrammers! At night, visitors can catch a new show, MZ Laser. The show features a “human lazer” which sounds intriguing!
Of course, my favouite part of the CNE is the food trucks and the iconic food building. I’ve partnered with the CNE to give away Ride All Day passes and General Admission passes to the CNE! Sound like fun? Enter below for your chance to win!
It’s Friday! On this rainy Friday I’d like to brighten it up a little with Disney!
As you may recall, I was super excited to see the live action of Beauty and the Beast earlier this year.
The film was perfect to watch if beauty and the Beast is one of your favourite movies. The film stayed true to the original while adding in some twists and turns such as a back story for Belle’s mother and a few new songs. The costumes and sets were beautiful. My favourite scene is the opening scene. I loved watching Belle sing through her French town and her indignation over Gaston’s attempts to court her. If you still haven’t seen this movie, now’s your chance! I’ve teamed up with Disney to give one lucky winner a copy of the Beauty and the Beast DVD packed the extras.
The winner will enjoy three ways to watch the movie – the original theatrical cut, the premiere cut with overture, and a musical experience with a sing-along version. The release invites viewers to get up close and personal with the filmmakers and cast to see how this beloved animated film was transformed into a new live-action classic, from the first enchanted table read to a fascinating look at how the film was brought to life utilizing lavish sets, elaborately designed costumes and props, and state-of the-art technology. A feature on the amazing women behind the enchanted tale hosted by Emma Watson; and over 10 minutes of deleted scenes along with musical extras, including the “Beauty and the Beast” music video starring Ariana Grande and John Legend, Celine Dion’s heartfelt take on the new song “How Does a Moment Last Forever,” and jump directly to all you favorite unforgettable songs.
Sounds awesome, right? To enter, please see below. The winner must live in Canada.
Growing up, I loved anime and manga. One of my favourite animators remains a favourite: Hayao Miyazaki. The films of Studio Ghibli are beautiful, whimsical and haunting. If you’ve never seen a Ghibli film, what are you waiting for?
The TIFF Bell Lightbox will be showing his most popular films at Spirited Away: The Films of Studio Ghibli. From December 24th to January 6th you’ll be able to catch his most famous films, as well as lesser known ones.
If you don’t know where to start, My Neighbor Totoro is a great place to start, or my personal favourite, Howl’s Moving Castle! I’ve partnered with TIFF to give one lucky winner 2 tickets to see a Studio Ghibli film of their choice that’s playing before December 31st.
Enter below! Good luck.
