Toronto based chef extraordinaire Susur Lee hosted a fun and delicious event to kick off his new menu: Veggielicious! This five course menu features flavourful vegan and vegetarian dishes at BENT Restaurant.
The other day I was treated to a night of pizza and gelato. Yes…you heard right. Pizza and gelato, together at last? Where is this magical place? G for Gelato!

It’s Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 pm, and there’s already a line up outside of the Rocking Horse Saloon to get into The Porch.
The Jazz Bistro patio is a little oasis in a busy part of the city. Steps from Dundas Square, within minutes you could be relaxing here with a drink in your hand after shopping or just hanging out.
The Jazz Bistro serves up dinner as well as brunch. I sampled bites from their shareable plates menu.
The menu includes Lobster Tacos with Black Bean Spread, Pulled Pork Sliders and Spicy Buffalo Chicken and Cheddar Balls.
I really like the Moroccan vibe that they have going on with the angular tents above. Each evening they have live music. They even have live music during brunch on Sunday. Check out the music schedule.
I would love to return to have brunch or dinner on this rooftop. Would you?

Portland Variety does a little bit of everything and does it damn well. From house made breads, cheese and pastries to seafood platters and fantastic cocktails, it’s all amazing.
The front of the restaurant serves pintxos– small tapas with unique twists. House made bread slathered with cheese roasted cherry tomato and a teeny anchovy. Skewers of olives and cheese. Slices of onion tart. Brie topped with eggplant. House made chorizo.
All of these bites are available to nosh on by the piece/skewer/slice.
There’s also a nice selection of sweets including giant chocolate chip cookies, chocolate bomb cakes and more treats. (more…)
When Fionn MacCool’s invited me to welcome patio season with a summer menu launch on their patio, I was an instant yes. I like Fionn MacCool’s and how they strive to have lots of Made-in-Pub items on their menu. You definitely wont find frozen french fries here.
Bryan Jurek has been the brand chef for over two years. He’s a Cordon Bleu trained chef and has cooked all around the world. There are 10 new dishes on the new menu.
This fun and delicious take on grilled cheese was a favourite of mine. The Latke Grilled Cheese is made with potato cakes and then layered with sour cream and Cahill’s Guinness Cheddar cheese. It’s topped with a pickle! Be sure to keep the pickle on when you bite in!
Meat pies rank right up there with some of my favourite food on this planet. What’s not to love about a buttery crust filled with spiced beef or creamy chicken? Nothing.
I first tried Kanga pies at the Delicious Food Show, and was hooked. Fast forward a few months later, and Kanga has their very first brick and mortar location! (more…)
