Pukka is my go to restaurant when I’m looking for delicious upscale Indian food. Pukka’s menu highlights a creative and inventive reprise of Indian dishes with a contemporary twist.
Although Pukka is only a year and a half old, and they are always busy. They are currently looking for a second location! Here’s hoping that it’s in the east end! (more…)
Borealia is serious about their food and celebrating Canadian culture. You may think that Canadian food is poutine, tourtière and Montreal bagels, (Wow, Quebec really did its part.) but Borealia goes beyond that. Their menu spans food that dates back as far as the 1600s- with a modern spin, of course. (more…)
Sometimes you just want some comfort food. Not tartare or smoked salmon, but just deliciously filling food that’s familiar. When I was invited to check out the Prenup Pub, that’s exactly what I expected. I got that, but much more. Comfort with a twist, at an affordable prices.
Prenup Pub is in a prime spot for students. The University of Toronto is right down the street, and OCADU isn’t far behind. With over 70 beers on tap, this pub is a popular one and it shows.
The place is packed when we arrive on a weeknight. The pub is split into two floors and has lots of cozy nooks.
We started off with a cold salad, Wurst Salad ($9). With nary an iceberg lettuce in sight (I dislike Iceberg lettuce) this salad had sliced sausages, tomato, garlic, parsley, and dill pickles marinated in olive oil and German mustard. Yum!
Attention schnitzel lovers! There’s a new place to get schnitzel in town… Schnitzel Hub!
The new spot has a romantic vibe, and I think that it would be a great place for a first date. It’s cozy and warm, with fun decor. The restaurant specializes in Eastern and Central European cuisine. Think sausages, perogies, and of course, schnitzel.
Something else that’s really cool? They infuse their own vodkas! They start with a Smirnoff triple distilled vodka base, and then add fresh ingredients. Ginger, bacon, golden beet, Pinnamon (Pineapple and Cinnamon!)…they have it all! I didn’t end up trying any this time, but I will next time! Check out the flavours. (more…)
This Friday November 28th Fonda Lola is celebrating their one year anniversary with free handheld caesar salads (Did you know that the caesar originated in Mexico?), chili pepper eating contests, piñata breaking every hour, and of course lots of tequila! Check it out below.
This cozy restaurant is another gem in the St. Clair West area. I love venturing out here and finding new tasty places to eat. Bywoods is a Mediterranean restaurant with an Italian flair.
The signature cocktail was the Bywoods. The Bywoods had gin, Rosemary, lemon juice, sugar and club soda. The cocktail was refreshing, but I think I’d try a more fruity cocktail. (more…)
Every time I visit Montreal, I feel like I’ve stepped into Europe. Maybe it’s the French. Maybe it’s the cobblestones, or maybe it’s just being offered still or sparkling water at every meal. Whatever it is, I’m in love with Montreal. (more…)
