I was beyond thrilled when Ladurée opened up at Yorkdale mall. I’ve been a huge fan of Laduree ever since I went to their first patisserie in Paris. I knew I had to visit to try their afternoon tea.

In December, my goal in life is basically to consume as many cookies (particularly shortbread) as I can. I often arrange cookie swaps to fuel this goal and to acquire lots of cookies to share with my family and friends! It’s good to have a go to recipe that you can whip up easily and modify as needed so that you can bake at the drop of a dime!
I found a recipe like that, and I’m going to share the magic of Becel Anything Goes Cookie Dough. The recipe is super simple. From one dough, you can get an endless array of cookies. With the addition of a few ingredients, this dough can become gingerbread, apple spice and more! This make it the perfect recipe to have on hand for cookie swaps and last minute parties. (more…)

I have the sneaking suspicion that the staff at Maman recognize me. And it’s not for a cool reason, like, “Oh, that’s the girl that always wears the pretty vintage shoes!” No, it’s more like, “Oh, that’s the girl that’s here like, all. the. time.”
I can’t help it though. If you worked within walking distance of Maman, I’m sure you’d be here all the time too.
Because really, how could you stay away? This Toronto outpost of the popular SoHo NYC cafe serves up an array of tempting treats, with picture perfect vintage French decor.
When Sweet Jesus first opened last week, in the middle of September, I was questioning the time of year. However, thanks to the bizarre return of summer to Toronto, coupled with anticipation, locals have been asking: Is Sweet Jesus the next Uncle Tetsu? The lines spilling out of the new shop may spell yes.
