Burt’s Bees has come up with a fun and innovative way to launch their first line of lipsticks! Artists from all around Canada have been invited to create art using Burts Bees products.

“SHADES is a perfect intersection of art, beauty, and nature,” says Carolyn Hungate from Burt’s Bees Canada. “It’s an opportunity for Canadians to experience and purchase unique creations by some of the country’s brightest artistic talent while at the same time showing their support for a worthy cause. We’ve tried to strike a balance between our commitment to conservation efforts and sustainability and our natural  sense of playfulness.” (more…)

[Fun Facts] Instagram & Millennials

At FFWD Advertising and Marketing Week, hosted by the ICA, I attended some interesting lectures. My favourite talk was from Facebook Canada, owners of Instagram. They shared some cool stats about Instagram that I’d love to share with you!

Instagram is my favourite social media platform. It’s so visual and beautiful. I love to use it to find new things to eat and places to go. And I’m not alone!

Millennials are the top users of Instagram (that’s me!), making up 70% of all users. On average, we use Instagram for 21 minutes per day. Instagram is great for capturing and sharing world moments. There are 80 million photos shared per day, and 3.5 billion likes per day. Women tailor content around human elements, while men share travel and city pride.

So why do millennials use Instagram?

74% take actions based on posts.
46% say Instagram brings out creativity
48% follow brands on Instagram
39% use Instagram so they don’t miss out. (FOMO is real!)
45% follow brands that inspire them.

36% of Canadian posts use hashtags.

#smile #positivity #iloveyou are the most popular.
Trending: #strideby #fromwhereistand #emojisinthewild #theworldneedsmorespiralstaircases #makeportraits

So what should you do to create better content and attract new followers? Think of how to inspire, think how it will look visually.

Flurry: Installation in Brookfield Place

flurry6Excited for the holidays, but missing the snow? Brookfield Place, arguably one of my most impression atrium in the Path (and in Toronto itself) has welcomed a new, wintry installation.

Flurry is an immersive art project by  Studio F Minus designers Brad Hindson and Mitchell F. Chan. 2000 shimmering, translucent snowflakes are suspended from the ceilings in Allen Lambert Galleria at Brookfield Place and the nearby Path. There are also large, deconstructed snowflake sculptures, part of the larger Snowfall installation. (more…)

Win it! An Evening with Andy Warhol

andywarhol

Andy Warhol is one of my favourite artists. It’s been such a great year in Toronto for Andy Warhol exhibits, and the fun continues with the newest exhibition to hit Toronto. Andy Warhol: Stars of the Silver Screen  is a massive exhibition at the TIFF Bell Lighthouse. The one of a kind exhibit shares Warhol’s collection of Hollywood memorabilia, including 8x10s, magazines, posters, and costume pieces. There is also an amazing selection of his art ( drawings, screen prints and photographs.) along with video and TV work.

This exhibition runs until January 24th and admission is $13.

As the first giveaway in my 12 Days of Christmas Cheer, I’m giving away a pair of tickets!

One lucky winner will win an Evening with Andy Warhol! This package includes two (2) exhibition tickets and two (2) film tickets to Father of the Bride (January 2 screening). Tickets to the exhibition expire on December 31st.

Paperchase Stationery: with love from London

p3

One day I walked in the Bay and did a double take at the beautiful stationery shop that I had stumbled into. Paperchase, an exclusive stationery shop from London, has a store in the Bay!

The store is filled with pens with adorable prints on them, hand-stitched notebooks, agendas, clipboards and more.

It was basically a stationary lovers dream. I immediately bought a pen (covered with anchors!) and plotted my return.

p4

I love this store. Why?

1) Most designs and patterns are designed especially for Paperchase in the UK, so you won’t see cute prints like this anywhere else.
2)They have a large greeting card section with beautiful cards starting at a reasonable price point. (like this card)
3)They have unique stationery items you won’t find anywhere else, like little clipboards and list books filled with notepads and stickie notes for lists.

p2

In addition to notebook and stationery albums, Paperchase carries scrapbooks, mugs, recipe collection books, wrapping paper, picture frames and more.

Here are some photos from the Eaton Centre location!

Where can I find Paperchase?

In Toronto, we have two locations. One is inside the Bay at the Eaton Centre, on the lower level (near the Queen subway station.) The other is in Mississauga at Square One, inside of the Top Shop. Don’t live in Toronto? Don’t worry, there’s a location in Vancouver (near the Sky train) and one in Calgary.
