Kikkerland is such a fun brand. I’ve been a big fan for a long time. I first discovered the brand through their travel gear (super handy luggage scales and packable laundry bags have been a lifesaver!). Now that I’m a homeowner, I’m finding fun and useful ways to use Kikkerland day to day life.
This is the tool that I didn’t know I needed until I discovered it. I have a mini herb garden that’s constantly producing basil, oregano, mint, thyme and parsley. This handy herb multi tool is able to chop herbs with it’s curved blade, strip herbs of leaves (I’m looking at you, thyme) and can zest in a pinch. It’s also able to peel citrus and open bottles. Urban Barn has a gorgeous fall collection that’s hitting stores now! It’s incorporating everything that I love right now. Dark florals paired with “millennial” pink, geometric shapes, mixed metals and more. Did I mention the incredibly comfy looking chairs? Check it out!
This year, Nuit Blanche is going to be in Scarborough for the first time. I’ve been going downtown for years to volunteer, participate and wander the streets of the city during Nuit Blanche. It’s my favourite Toronto festival. I’m really excited to share that I’ve been selected as an artist to exhibit at Nuit Blanche! My exhibition will be a throwback to the iconic hot air balloon installation that was dismantled in 2009.
Giant, billowy hot air balloons that ebbed and flowed into the air. These giant puffs of colour would ascend and descend in front of the Bay. Do you remember? If you ask most people who live in Scarborough, chances are that they have fond memories of being mesmerized by those balloons. My installation is a nod to this balloon installation.
Looking upward, visitors will see more than 100 hot air balloons suspended from the ceiling. The balloons will range in size from 1ft up to 6ft, and will be gently lit. The colours of the balloons will reflect the original installation colours. The balloons will be untouchable, but immersive. New visitors will delight in the beautiful sight, and past visitors to Scarborough Town will remember those hot air balloon giants that they experienced as a child.
The installation will be open to the public for free on September 29th, from sunset to sunrise, at Scarborough Town Centre.
I need your help to make my project come to life! I’ve launched a Kickstarter to help me meet my funding goal. Without funding, I won’t be able to do this fun installation! I would appreciate any help spreading the word, or any donations that you can make. Thank you! Find out more here.

The sights, sounds and tastes all captured my senses at The Interior Design Show in Toronto. At the opening party, it was more that just design ideas for your home. Toronto’s food and beverage scene met art and design. (more…)
This year was a huge one for me. I got married (!!), went on a honeymoon, and moved into one of my favourite areas of the city. I take so many photos, maybe more than ever before. I have photos on my cell phone and digital camera, photos that people sent me of my wedding, photos of my honeymoon and so much more. What I don’t have are tangible photos. I used to print my photos and put them in an album, but I don’t do that anymore. What if my laptop crashes and I lose all my photos? I’ve tried to make a goal for myself to print some photos, but I’ve definitely fallen behind this year.
Enter Chatbooks. Chatbooks gets it. Thanks to their super easy system, making your memories last forever in a pretty photobook is a breeze. I made my first Chatbook to celebrate my trip to Japan a couple of years ago. It was simple to do: I downloaded the Chatbook app, and was able to select my favourite photos to be published into a cute little book. It was a fast way to show off my trip and fit easily in my purse. I was hooked! (more…)
Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links for products I genuinely love! Although I partnered with Minted.com for this post, my opinion remains my own.
I love tangible things, like stationery. I love sending out real Christmas cards, I have a huge stash of beautiful note cards and enjoy picking out birthday cards for friends and family. I really enjoyed picking out my wedding stationery and even designing some myself. A few years ago, one of my friends sent me a beautiful thank you card for her wedding. I remembering flipping it over and noticing that it was from Minted. Even though I wasn’t engaged yet, I remember making a mental note to check out Minted when the time came.
Fast forward a couple of years later, and here we are! Minted.com is a website where you can pick out unique designs for cards, address labels, invitations, and so much more. They work with independent designers and even have their own designers on staff to whip up some custom designs for you, if you so desire. This year, Minted has branched out into the decor market for the holidays. They have gorgeous printed tree skirts and stocking with custom name plates. They even have cozy throws and throw pillows to make your living room extra festive. (more…)
