Backstage at The Collections with MAC & Aveda

I was invited to go backstage with MAC Cosmetics and Aveda during the Collections! Wow, is it ever busy back there. I spent some time watching a M∙A∙C makeup artist get a model ready for the Label  show and explain the vision for the show. The model was prepped to have glowing, natural “California girl” skin. This was achieved by using MAC Care Blends Essential Oils and MAC Taupe Shape Powder Blush.

My favourite part of the look was the bright pop of colour that was added at the end. Each model got a bright, almost neon orange on the lips or eyes.

Aveda was backstage styling hair. The styles that they were creating were sleek rope braids.

Tips Nail Bar were also on hand to give the girls stick on half glitter manicures. They looked great!

Going backstage was lots of fun, thanks MAC & Aveda!  I’ll be going backstage during Fashion week too. Can’t wait!

The Collections, the shOws & World Mastercard Fashion Week

The next couple of weeks will be a busy one for fashionistas in Toronto!

The Collection  (October 15-19) is an alternative outlet for creative individuals to showcase their work to drive sales and marketing. All shows take place in the evening in the lovely Burroughes Building. On the runway you will see Chloe Comme Parris, Klaxon Howl, Cara Cheung, Label Clothing and Laura Siegel.

The shOws (October 16 & 17) aim to to put the spotlight on Canadian Designers, Hair and Makeup Artists and Models and build a property that benefits not only our designers, artists and retailers but also our supportive sponsors, by showcasing the very best of Canadian talent at home and abroad to our media, buyers and stylists. On the runway you can spot Antonio Azzuolo, Jean-Pierre Braganza, Jeremy Laing and Tanya Taylor.

And of course…Toronto Fashion Week is the big one. Running from October 22- October 26 at David Pecaut Square, this show is not to be missed.  Favourites such as Joe Fresh, Bustle, Pink Tartan and many others will be debuting their new collections. Check out the schedule and buy tickets!

Fall boots for all feet!

I love, love tall knee high boots. Sadly, every shopping trip ends with me bootless and super sad. Why? Because I have wide calves, and can’t find shoes to fit! The ones that do fit, I end up buying just because they fit, and not because I love them.

Enter Addition Elle. Their new fall collection features boots with a wider sole, various calf widths and increased ankle widths. You’re bound to find the perfect fitting pair! Their new fall collection offers 13 different styles, in sizes 7 to 11 ranging from flirty ballerina flats, edgy motorcycle style booties to tall (my favourite!) boots.  The most expensive pair is $169, and their super cute flats are only$24.99. Check them out here!

Goody Double Wear Elastics

A little bit ago I got to try these really cool hair elastics from Goody. When I put elastics on my wrist, they always tend to be really old (with elastic peeking through) and strangely, neon orange. With these elastics, I was stylishly saved. They have a curved textured metallic that makes them look like bracelets. Instant style, very little effort. They come in lots of different colours, and they also have a headband version that doubles as a necklace!

One lucky reader will get a chance to try them out! Enter below for your chance to win.
