Liquid matte lipsticks have been all the craze lately! it’s hard to find that perfect long wearing formula, that won’t entirely dry out your lips at the end of the day. Make Up For Ever decided to give the trend a try with their new artist liquid matte lipsticks!
I received 3 colours in the shades 103(Warm Beige),105(Rosewood), and 109 (Praline).
These lipsticks are for people like me, who love an ultra matte finish, and no sheen whatsoever with the help of mineral clay, and kaolin powders in the formula. The formula promises to wear all day, without transfer which I have to say is very true! The formula stayed put on my lips after eating greasy foods, and did not transfer onto surfaces like traditional liquid lipstick which I was very excited about.
The lipstick comes in mainly neutral, but highly pigmented colours, something for every skin tone they dry down to the true colour which is nice. The formula is smooth, and very creamy as it has avocado and glycerin to keep hydration. Although my lips did become dry at some point in the day, I did reapply, but it was not nearly as dry as my lips have been before when trying to keep on a liquid formula.
Overall, a great addition to the battle of liquid lipsticks!
I’ve been looking for a very long time for an oxblood colour from NARS that was completely matte, and without hints of brown like shades in their pure matte collection. I finally found the perfect colour of deep red in one of the new colours from called Endangered in my favourite lipstick formula, the Velvet Matte pencils! I received Endangered Red, Famous Red, and Do Me Baby.
I have written the praises of NARS velvet matte lip pencils before, but just a re-cap, the formula is one of the smoothest I have put it. It glides easily, and is also multi purposed as it can be used as a lip liner as well! I am super excited for the 10 new colours they released, with everything from a very hot pink called Let’s Go Crazy, to Unspoken, a deep navy, there’s something for everyone, and new colours to try!
L’Oreal held an amazing Masterclass to launch their new Infallible products! The class was led by world renown makeup artist Sir John, who has worked with Beyonce, Naomi Campell, and Joan Smalls just to name a few.
During the class Sir John answered questions about his rise in the fashion world, and what it was like to work with favourite celebrities. The atmosphere was very relaxed and laid back as Sir John showed us how to build what seemed like a complex look from the ground up. (more…)
NARS creamy radiant concealer is a fan favourite, so naturally we were super excited to try out their new Soft Matte Complete Concealer! The product comes in a little jar which means it will definitely last a long time, complete with 16 shades. It claims to have a very high coverage, and a weightless wear. It also will have a natural finish, and will blur imperfections with help from an optimal diffusion powder, which also helps the concealer to stay in place. (more…)
Urban Decay’s first Ontario store opened this month in Square One Mall Mississauga, just in time for your favorite makeup junkie’s Christmas stocking. The makeup super brand was previously only available at Sephora, can now be purchased in the brand new store. The shop will also sell Urban Decay exclusives, products that will only found there. One of those products is the limited edition shade NAKED nail colour, with a 400 strand brush for optimum colour.
The store has some amazing specs, including 8 makeup stations, and an incredible 76-inch custom nickel chandelier. And if you were wondering about your favorite makeup brand’s stance on animal testing, the massive dog statute is a symbol of the brand’s cruelty free promise (and also co-founder Wende’s lab Marley!).
Urban Decay doesn’t just want you to come by, they want you to hang out, and even take a few selfies of your makeup look in their interactive mirror.
Make sure you stop by Urban Decay to get all your holiday makeup needs!
Have you been searching for that perfect colour contour for your skin? Search no longer! NARS has come to the rescue for a variety of Contour Blushes for just about every skin tone. The darker shade is meant for bringing out cheekbones for a more chiseled look, while the lighter tone is for those areas of your face that look best illuminated such as the bridge of your nose. The shades are matte, and highly pigmented so a little goes a long way! My favourite is Talia, which is a combination of a dark brown and a pinkish beige perfect for my skintone.
Forget about Racoon eyes, NARS has got you covered with their new Darklight Velvet Eyeliner! The liner comes in 9 pigmented, build-able shades so you can easily do a touchup after work. The creamy formula allows for easy application, and can easily be blended for a smokey nighttime look. My favourite shade is Black Moon.
