The Sweetapolita Bakebook

Oh, this book is just awesome. It’s a joy to page through its rainbow hued pages and dream of all the amazing looking cakes you could make. Author Rosie Aleya has a knack for creating fun and fantastical looking cakes. (Think Rainbow Brite.)

This book is filled with 75 recipes for everything from decadent layer cakes to frosting to cookies and candies. There’s even a recipe teaching you how to make your own sprinkles from Royal Icing!

This book also includes interactive designs that lets everyone decorate together. Painted Mini Cakes are served with edible “paint” for guests to personalize at the table, the fondant-covered tiered Chalk-a-Lot cake is paired with homemade edible “chalk,” and Rainbow Doodle cookies lets kids draw with edible markers.

I haven’t quite worked up the courage to create a beautiful cake like the one above, but I did make Gingery Gingerbread Cutout Cookies and Chocolate Butter Cake. The chocolate cake recipe gave me enough for an 8 inch cake and a dozen cupcakes. The cake was super moist and delicious without being too sweet! The gingerbread cookies were soft and chewy with the perfect hint of spice. I’m not sharing those recipes with you today, but here’s a fun recipe to try!

Sprinkle-Me-Silly Pizza is a sweet treat that you’ll be sure to enjoy! Click here for the recipe.
