I love tangible things, like stationery. I love sending out real Christmas cards, I have a huge stash of beautiful note cards and enjoy picking out birthday cards for friends and family. I really enjoyed picking out my wedding stationery and even designing some myself. A few years ago, one of my friends sent me a beautiful thank you card for her wedding. I remembering flipping it over and noticing that it was from Minted. Even though I wasn’t engaged yet, I remember making a mental note to check out Minted when the time came.
Fast forward a couple of years later, and here we are! Minted.com is a website where you can pick out unique designs for cards, address labels, invitations, and so much more. They work with independent designers and even have their own designers on staff to whip up some custom designs for you, if you so desire. This year, Minted has branched out into the decor market for the holidays. They have gorgeous printed tree skirts and stocking with custom name plates. They even have cozy throws and throw pillows to make your living room extra festive.
I’m so excited to finally be able to share my wedding day with you! It’s crazy how you spend so many months planning the perfect day, and then it’s gone just like that. I had my wedding at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on the Toronto Islands. I couldn’t have picked a more perfect location. There was just one small problem…the Toronto Islands had flooded earlier this summer, forcing many weddings to be cancelled or relocated. I was so lucky that on the day of my wedding, we had perfect, sunny weather. It was also late enough in the summer that the island had dried out a bit. Phew! (more…)
I got married over the summer, and planning was a whirlwind! Between reading wedding blogs, to being on Pinterest 24/7 I had tons of ideas. I wanted guests to be able to find their tables easily at my wedding. I remember previous weddings where guests were crowded around a seating chart, and I remember having a hard time finding my name. That’s why I decided to use escort cards for my wedding.
What’s an escort card, you say? An escort card is a card that has your name and the table that you will be sitting at. It’s called an escort card because it literally escorts you to your table. Don’t confuse this (as my fiancé did) with a place card, which is a card that’s already at your table when you arrive, showing you where your seat is. Oy. (more…)
I’ve been enjoying being engaged, and attending a vast majority of wedding shows! I’ve attended small indie wedding shows, lavish Indian wedding shows and massive north American wedding shows. I’m really happy that there’s a Caribbean and African Wedding Show! I’ve been struggling to find a bridal hair dresser, and I know that I’ll be able to find vendors that can do my hair and much much more. Canada’s African & Caribbean Wedding Show is this Saturday April 1st at Daniel’s Spectrum. Tickets are $35, and includes:
- a welcome glass of champagne
50 elite exhibitors

You may not be able to tell from my blog content, but I’ve got wedding on the brain. Big time. Currently I’m trying to figure out how I can grab some blue and white table runners without paying a small fortune. But before I got to these little details, I was focused on the big one. The venue.
When I got engaged in February, I had heard how hard it was to find a venue. I assumed this was only true for the large venues like Casa Loma, or the Distillery District. I was very wrong. Although I was thinking of an October 2017 wedding date, I very quickly realized that many venues were taken. Venue hunting became my life. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on venues now, and I’m going to share my favourite ones with you! My advice to you? Decide how large your wedding will be and book a venue as soon as you can. It’s never too early! The prices quoted below are current as of October 2016. Obviously, prices can change. I’ve noted if the vendors allow outside catering. In most cases, where I have included price per person that’s the minimum charge. Doesn’t include any additional fees that the venue may have. Take a look!
South Pond is a beautiful farm property in Kawartha Lakes. They do their own in-house catering, have a super cute barn with a bar silo and are just lovely people. Check out their wedding information here.
Capacity: 140 people Minimum Cost: $155 per person Outside Catering? No
I love to plan events, and will use almost anything as an excuse to host one. So when I needed to pick bridesmaids, I definitely knew that I wanted to hold an event. (more…)
When first got my engagement ring, I was so excited, and it was incredibly sparkly and shimmery. Like…well…a diamond. Fast forward a few months, I noticed that it had gotten dull. Like, really dull. I started panicking, thinking that I’d somehow scratched the surface or chipped the diamond (you may laugh, but this poor ring has already been through a lot with me. Like the time I fell into a wall and landed diamond first. True story.) (more…)
