[ Win it ] Let’s Go to the Ex!

I’ve been going to the CNE with my family since I was a little girl. It’s a tradition that I’ve rarely strayed from each year. Even now that I’m an adult (when did that happen?) I still go with my parents and sister each year. This year I’ll be including my husband on the fun.

The food is a huge draw. The Food building is my jam, and it’s packed with lobster rolls, crazy burgers, raclette, bao tacos, and so much more. There’s always something new to check out each year. The CNE hasn’t announced what wild and wacky food they’ll be having this year, but I bet it will be something unique and tasty.

As a testament to the popularity of Toronto’s ever growing list of night markets, the CNE will be hosting its very own Asian food market this year. Visitors can check out the market from August 30th to September 3rd.

This year, it’s the 125th anniversary of the debut of the Ferris wheel. The Ferris wheel was invented in Chicago. Be sure to ride the giant Ferris wheel in honour of this anniversary this summer.

This year, in honor of the year of Canada-China Tourism. 50 artists created 17 illuminated giant silk lanterns. It sounds beautiful, and I’m excited to see them.

What are some of your summer traditions? Do you go to the Ex each year with your family? Or will this be your first time? I’ve partnered with the CNE to giveaway general admission passes and Ride All Day Passes to the CNE this summer! To enter, see below. [Win it!] Tickets to the CNE

CNE midwayIt’s a little bittersweet, but it’s the last month of summer! Here to take the sting away from the end is the CNE rolling into town. This annual exhibition is a tradition that I never miss! The CNE runs from August 18th to September 4th this year.

This summer on the bandstand visitors can catch live performances from Kiefer Sutherland, Sam Roberts Band, A Tribe Called Red and Dear Rouge.

Food lovers, don’t fret. There’s always something new and delicious to try at the CNE. This year the CNE will be hosting a East Coast VIP Lobster Dinner. VIP Patrons will be seated in an exclusive area on Princes’ Blvd. illuminated by overhead Edison lights with a live soundtrack provided by the Celtic Rock Warrior Band, the Mudmen. Dinner will include a luscious Lobster with traditional sides of potato salad, (and) corn on the cobb all catered by Picton’s The Sand and Pearl. Tickets are $141 per person.

This year, the CNE will be unveiling a sign much like the icon TORONTO sign at City Hall. The 8 foot tall sign will spell CNE and include a maple leag. It’s sure to be popular with Instagrammers! At night, visitors can catch a new show, MZ Laser. The show features a “human lazer” which sounds intriguing!

Of course, my favouite part of the CNE is the food trucks and the iconic food building. I’ve partnered with the CNE to give away Ride All Day passes and General Admission passes to the CNE! Sound like fun? Enter below for your chance to win!

Let’s Go to the Ex…Win Tickets!

The Canadian National Exhibition opens this Friday, August 17th until September 3rd! Going to this local fair is a yearly tradition for me. Here are some of my highlights for the 2012 CNE!

The Sky Ride

As a lover of the Ferris wheel, I’m really excited for the new Sky Ride! The Sky Ride is new for 2012 and is 40 feet above the ground. It carries you across the CNE grounds and kinda looks like a ski lift. You can ride it for free with a Play All Day pass or buy individual tickets.

Food at the Ex!

The Toronto Star Food Building is always a huge draw. So many places to eat, so many different cultures all in one building. This year comes with some new surprises. You can try deep-fried apple fritters, Dutch Krokets (a fried roll with mashed potatoes and beef with rice or noodles, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried), and finish off with some new cupcakes from Sweetness bakery.

Last but not least….The weekend of August 24 to 26, the CNE will host a huge food truck rally just inside the historic Princes’ Gates. The Food Truck Rally will feature Food Trucks including: Blue Donkey Streetery, Buster’s Sea Cove, Canuk Pizza Truck, Fidel Gastro, Food Dudes, Gourmet B1tches, Hank Daddy’s Barbeque, Gourmet Gringos, Hogtown Smoke, Mike’s Dog House, Per Se Mobile, Pretty Sweet, Rollin’ on the River, Roman Chariot, Stuft, Sweetness Bakery, Texas Tornado, The Urban Smoke, Tiny Toms.

Of course, there are many more things to do at the Ex. Catch a musical performance, nab a deal from the various buildings or win a prize from a games booth. Thanks to the CNE, I’m giving you the chance to win a pair of tickets to the Ex! All you have to do is follow the instructions below, and enter before Friday August 10th.
