What do you do when the February blues have got you down, and you feel the need for a little break? You take a staycation, of course. In a city as vast as Toronto, we’re spoiled for our choice of hotels.
Known for it’s elegant, romantic decor, the Omni King Edward was my top pick for a mini break. It’s also a pretty exciting time to be a guest at the King Eddy.
The hotel is undergoing a $40 million renovation and will showcase the old-world charm and vibrancy of Toronto with a complete transformation of 301 spacious guestrooms, meeting space and lobby. The hotel has completed the renovations of 230 guestrooms and suites, and the remaining 71 are slated for completion by the end of this month.
The newly appointed guest rooms & suites feature the finest in furnishings, custom bedding and vintage crown moldings, all with impeccably appointed marble bathrooms.
Upon check in, we discovered that we had been upgraded to a newly renovated Deluxe Executive Suite!
The 800 square foot suite was spacious with modern decor. It had a large living room, two bathrooms and a bedroom. The living room had a large desk, HGTV and a Keurig coffee machine.
The bedroom had a king sized bed, large closet and bathroom. The bed was really comfy.
We enjoyed a taste of the popular King Edward Afternoon Tea menu with some scones and preserves. The scones were fluffy and delicious.
Before we went to bed, we filled out a form for Omni Select Guest members (free to join, and complimentary beverages with your second visit to the hotel!) for our free morning beverages, and hung it on our door.
In the morning, right outside our door was our morning coffee, teas and juices. A girl could get used to this. We drank our beverages as we checked out the breakfast menu. We decided to do something that we had never done before- room service for breakfast!
Our meal arrived piping hot, and a small table was set up for us to enjoy our breakfast at. The service was friendly and fast.
The hotel has a wide variety of breakfast options, including omelets, wraps, granola, pancakes and more. We decided on…
The Lumberjack Breakfast
Two Eggs any Style with Home Fries, Bacon, Ham, Sausage, Oven Roasted Herbed Tomato, and Buttermilk Pancakes with Canadian Maple Syrup
Steak and Egg
Grilled 6oz Steak with Eggs Sunny Side Up and Crisp Potatoes
Breakfast was fantastic, and the perfect way to end our relaxing stay. Don’t feel like dining in your room? Breakfast is served in Victoria’s Restaurant downstairs. It’s worth it to note, that although the hotel is under construction, from inside the hotel there were no disruptions or inconveniences from it.
