It doesn’t get anymore East Coast than a lighthouse. I was thrilled to be able to stay at the West Point Lighthouse for once night on Prince Edward Island during my East Coast Road Trip!
The beautiful lighthouse inn is located 2 hours away from Charlottetown in Cedar Dunes Provincial Park. The lighthouse was built in 1875, and still function as a lighthouse! For curious visitors, the inside of the lighthouse has two rooms available for rent, and a museum for you to learn all about the lighthouse.

Narrow, steep stairs.

The beacon!
You can walk all the way to the top and check out the beacon. Be warned, it is a narrow staircase, but a beautiful view!
The inn is attached to the lighthouse and has a charming living room and dining room.
Your stay comes with a free breakfast that includes fresh baked croissants (they were delicious), muffins, fruit, cereal, juices and of course, coffee and tea.
Now let’s get to my favourite part- the rooms!
The rooms were bright and airy, with incredibly comfortable bedding.
Each room has a back patio with Musoka chairs to sit on and a nice view of the beach! I loved going for walks along the beach and hanging out in the lifeguard chair (when the lifeguard wasn’t on duty, that is.)
For dinner, we visited the nearby restaurant, The Catch. (Call for reservation (902) 859-3541) It’s just a short walk along the beach.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for a visit! The fish and chips were incredibly fresh and amazing, the restaurant has beautiful art and friendly staff.
All in all, we really enjoyed our lighthouse stay at Westpoint! If you’re thinking of staying here, be sure to book well in advance! We got the last room when we stayed here. 🙂
Westpoint Lighthouse is located at O’Leary, PE C0B 1V0. Call 1-(800) 764-6854.
