Although I had never been to Cambridge, Massachusetts, checking into the Kimpton Marlowe felt like returning to an old friend. As you may or may not know, I’m kind of in love with the Kimpton hotels. I’ve traveled a fair bit now, and the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Portland is what I use to measure how much I like other hotels. True story.
When you first pull into the hotel, the first thing you’ll notice is their captivating sculpture just outside of the hotel doors. This sculpture is called Celeste, and was commissioned for the hotel. Created by local Steampunk artists ModVic and Salmon Studios, this 24 ft sculpture represents a traditional armillary. It’s really beautiful and striking.
When you walk into the hotel, there’s an expansive lobby and a plush sitting room.
Our room was on a high floor (as requested ) with nice views into a green courtyard along the Charles River. We were in a Double Double Deluxe room with two comfortable double beds. (That’s a lot of doubles!) The room was spacious and brightly lit. We were greeted with a tasty welcome snack of my favourite: crackers and cheese.
We enjoyed these fun animal print robes! Our room had a flat screen TV and the bathroom had lovely Atelier Bloem bath products.
One of the perks of being a Karma Reward‘s member is that you get a $10 credit to raid the mini snack bar with each stay. (You also get free WiFi!) I snagged these delicious cashews.
