Bacon Goodness at Rashers

1-IMG_7124 1-IMG_3506

I’m a traditionalist bacon lover. I love bacon, but give it to me the old fashioned way. I don’t need it to be dipped in chocolate, or deep fried, or caramelized. Just pure, delicious bacon, as a side or on a sandwich is perfection for me.

That’s why I like Rashers. Rashers just opened their second location on Ossington. Here, bacon is a delicious, pure art, presented in the form of sandwiches.

Rashers Bacon Butty

My favourite sandwich is the Bacon Butty. Easy to find in England, this sandwich is harder to track down in Toronto.

Owner Richard Mullen is British, and has done his due diligence to bring a perfect version to this city. British style bacon (thinner and less fatty than its American counterpart) is stuffed between white bread with homemade brown sauce. It’s such a delicious sandwich. The bacon is perfectly crisp and really filling, and the brown sauce gives it a nice kick. The bacon also comes from Perth Pork Products. Check out my visit to their farm!

Brie & Bacon

The next sandwich, the Brie & Bacon, consisted of my two favourite things. This sandwich featured smoked strip bacon with melted brie & caramelized onions topped with a homemade garlic aioli. Bacon and brie is clearly a match made in heaven, and I would recommend if you like brie.

Hogtown Sandwich

Here’s a bite of my Hogtown Sandwich. Peameal bacon with homemade grainy ale mustard makes this sandwich a flavourful hit. If you love peameal bacon, you need to try this.

Those two are my favourites. The ones below are also pretty tasty!

In addition to sandwiches, Rasher’s serves up two different types of fries. Thick, crispy wedges and thin curly fries.

Rashers Menu

All in all, I really enjoyed my sandwiches, and will be returning for more bacon goodness in the near future.
