Paradise in Prince Edward County at the Drake Devonshire

1-IMG_0354 1-IMG_0360I had been obsessively watching the Drake Devonshire hotel being built via blog posts and tweets for months. I had never been to Prince Edward County, and despite hearing from all my foodie friends and the interwebs what a foodie mecca the county was, I waited to ensure that my visit would coincide with their opening date.

When they revealed their opening date, I planned the perfect weekend, grabbed my boyfriend (okay, so he drove.) and headed up there.

It was pretty much heaven.

Incredibly comfy beds and more than a dash of hipster in your hotels? Well, my friend, they are going to have to drag you kicking and screaming out of the Drake Devonshire.

It’s possible that I may sound more than a little bit in love with this hotel, and that’s because I am. So there.

The Drake Devonshire is about a 2 hour drive from Toronto, in Prince Edward County. The property was originally an iron foundry, and overlooks the lake. They have meticulously selected everything, from the wallpaper to the tray that you put your tip into. The hotel features indoor and outdoor fire pits, a farm-to-table restaurant and chic rustic vibe.

The Elvis Presley: Layers of chocolate cake, peanut butter and banana frosting

Drake and Shake: Creamy lemon tart milkshake & thyme shortbread

Dessert was just as good as it looked. Maybe even better.

The Drake Devonshire will be having it’s Grand Opening in April 2015. In the meantime, enjoy preview rates and cuddles by the fireplace during winter and spring. Be sure to book ahead, they tend to get booked up for Friday and Saturday nights quickly!
