One of my favourite British designers, Cath Kidson, is having a pop up in the GTA this month! The cheerful floral print show will hit the road and visit Markham, Toronto and North York.
Fairview Mall on September 9th;
Markville Mall on September 11th;
Toronto Eaton Centre on September 19th.
Each store will stick around until the end of December and are expected to be 800 to 1,200 square feet. Shoppers will find stationery, clothing, kids wear and home goods in store.
“Canadians have a soft spot for all things British, Cath Kidston will surely be well-received. The shops definitely bring a bright and joyful presence to our market.” says Carole Teitelbaum, President of Halcyon Brands Inc. “Cath Kidston is a global success story and Canada is a natural home for her.”
The CNE is back for another year! This is a yearly summer tradition that I never miss. The CNE is in town from Aug 16 – Sept 2, 2019. Last summer, a whopping 1.5 million people attended the fair. So what’s new this year?
CNE will host the Canadian premiere of the traveling exhibition “50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic,” comprised of iconic images that defined the 21st century ranging from the striking portrait of Afghan Girl by photographer Steve McCurry, to a haunting photo of The Titanic taken 4000m below sea. I cannot express how much I love, love, love my latest pair of Keen shoes. I’m no stranger to the Keen brand. I’ve been wearing them for a few years, and overall like their shoes.
My new Terradora EVO Mid boots are my favourite pair yet! From the moment I put them on my feet, they were comfortable and I loved the way they look.
Elevate your city life with a fresh approach to being active. Our women’s Terradora EVO boot is faster, lighter, and more breathable. Based on the fit of our Terradora boot paired with our EVOFIT engineered knit.
The boots come in three distinctive colours. I chose grape wine/grape kiss. It also comes in black/magnet and frost grey/paloma.
I wore these boots while trekking around Quebec, and they kept my feet pain free and looked good to boot! What’s your favourite hiking boot?
As much as I love exploring the world, a large part of my heart is devoted to traveling around Ontario. We have so many amazing places and spaces. One of my favourite things to do in the summer and fall is to explore Ontario Parks. With 330 parks to explore, it can take quite a while to put a dent into that list. Especially if you’re like me, and keep visiting parks that you fall in love with.
This summer, I headed to one of my favourite parks, Awenda Provincial Park. Awenda is near Midland Ontario on the Georgian Bay. The park has 2,900 hectares of land and pristine shoreline.
The park has 6 campsites to choose from. We chose to camp at the radio-free Bear campground. I love radio free campgrounds because I’m a grump and like silence when I camp. Our campsite (#142) was rated average. It was shady with lots of trees, and was close to the comfort station. (more…)
It’s been 5 years since the very first Toronto Cider Festival was held in Toronto, and I’m still just as excited as I was then. Cider is my drink of choice, and I’ve loved watching the craft cider industry grow over the past few years.
This year, the Toronto Cider Festival will be held at Sherborune Common, near the waterfront. Guests will be able to sip on over 100 ciders from 33 cideries across Canada and the US. Participating cideries include: Lonetree, Ironwood, Brickworks Ciderhouse, Pommies, Spirit Tree, Ernest Cider, Muskoka Lakes and more! Click here to see the full list.
The festival kicks off with Country Night on Friday, featuring Alessia Cohle and her live country band,
along with DJ Moonshine from the RockNHorse. Those with VIP tickets will get early admission to Friday Night, a commemorative sample mug, and 10 sample tokens along with a Limited Edition 2019 Key to the City and 225 exclusive membership.
On Saturday afternoon, there’s a Waterfront Day Drinking Session with musical entertainment. In the evening, there’s a VIP session presented by Lonetree Cider that will include cider and food pairings. It also comes with a commemorative sample mug and 10 sample tokens.
I’m giving one lucky person the chance to win two tickets! You must be 19+ to be eligible to win. If you don’t win, you can purchase tickets www.torontociderfestival.com. Enter below for your chance to win!
If you’re looking to beat the heat, and take in a little culture while you’re at it, I have the perfect place for you. The Art Gallery of Ontario has two exciting exhibitions for the summer.

As we drew closer to the island, a few birds here and there circled the sky, some diving into the ocean to capture fish. Eventually, these few birds became hundreds.
As our boat docked on the island, only a few birds remained to be seen. Welcome to Bonadventure Island. The island is a short hop away from Percé, Quebec. What makes this tiny island unique are the two hundred thousand birds that live here. Of these, a colony of 110,000 northern gannets attract visitors from around the world. (more…)
