Saying Yes to the Dress at The Modern Bride

Thanks to shows like Say Yes to the Dress, there are a crazy high expectations when a bride goes shopping for a dress! Throw in family and weight anxiety to the mix and dress shopping has the potential to be really stressful.

I fell in love with Hayley Paige dresses on Pinterest and Say Yes to the Dress. Her fluffy, whimsical dresses suited me perfectly! The main collection was a little more than I wanted to spend on a wedding dress (Dresses start at about $5000) so I was really pleased to discover her Blush line! There are only a few wedding dress stores in the GTHA that carry her brand, and that’s what led me to the perfect dress shop.

Essentials for your Wedding Bathroom Basket

1-01-WebDownloads1

Little bathroom amenity kits at weddings can be a nice extra for your guests. They can be a lifesaver for the guests and bridesmaids alike!

My wedding was nautical themed, so I put my amenity kit in these adorable little Anchor Cabinet boxes from Kikkerland. I love how they look, they are made of metal and have a secure latch on the side. They hold lots of items in them, and you can re-use them after!
While the list of what to include in your wedding bathroom kit could be endless, I’ve gathered a list of essentials that you should definitely include.
Mouthwash: Always a good idea, especially at a wedding!
Dove Spray Deodorant: Super easy to apply, and hygienic.
Soap & Glory Hand Food Lotion: Perfect for super soft hands!
Quo Setting SprayKeeps your makeup looking fresh if you shed a happy tear
Tide to Go Pen: This is a lifesaver! Perfect for getting rid of those accidental wine stains.
Pony Tail Ties: Great for securing flyaway hairs.
Joe Fresh Facial Blotting Tissues:It can get hot and sweaty on that dance floor, use this to clean up and extra shine!
QUO Cosmetic Applicators: For fine tuning your make up
What did you include in you wedding kit?
Thanks to Shoppers Drug Mart and Kikkerland for providing me with some of these essentials!

EDIT Expo for Design & Innovation

EDIT

The EDIT Expo for Design is almost here, and Toronto hasn’t seen anything like it. Taking over an abandoned factory, this immersive expo runs from September 29th to October 8th.

Design visionaries from across the globe will gather in Toronto’s East Harbour (formerly Unilever Soap Factory) to manifest 150,000-square-feet and five separate floors into a 360-degree immersive and playful experience.Thought-provoking installations, interactive programming, stimulating speakers and immersive pavilions will explore how the powerful intersection of design, innovation and technology can provide solutions to the world’s greatest challenges and help shape the future for all people.

There are 50 exhibits to explore and 125 speakers over the 10 days. Admission is $15. Here’s what I’m looking forward to seeing the most!

SPEKTRA (Ryerson) An installation that detects motion and a green screen reacts in an interesting way and projects visuals as more people come into the space.

Supertree Grove: In the heart of Singapore lies Gardens by the Bay –– a 110-hectare nature park and the home of the legendary Supertree Grove. I’m hoping that they recreate this in the factory!

Ikea Impossible Meats: It looks and tastes like a burger, but what is it? It uses 75% less water and requires 95% less land to produce.

Reversío: Step into an immersive field that softens the boundaries of space and sensations.

Mickey Mouse’s Home of the Future: Mickey Mouse’s home of the future is a fully functional shipping container home inspired by the most beloved Disney character of all time.

Hot Process Dispersion: Freed from labours of work and wishing each other a last farewell, factory machinery come alive for one last hurrah before their final sentence.

Check out the entire list of installations, exhibitions, speakers and projects on their website. I can’t wait to explore!
