I love tangible things, like stationery. I love sending out real Christmas cards, I have a huge stash of beautiful note cards and enjoy picking out birthday cards for friends and family. I really enjoyed picking out my wedding stationery and even designing some myself. A few years ago, one of my friends sent me a beautiful thank you card for her wedding. I remembering flipping it over and noticing that it was from Minted. Even though I wasn’t engaged yet, I remember making a mental note to check out Minted when the time came.
Fast forward a couple of years later, and here we are! Minted.com is a website where you can pick out unique designs for cards, address labels, invitations, and so much more. They work with independent designers and even have their own designers on staff to whip up some custom designs for you, if you so desire. This year, Minted has branched out into the decor market for the holidays. They have gorgeous printed tree skirts and stocking with custom name plates. They even have cozy throws and throw pillows to make your living room extra festive.
The wedding section is amazing. You can choose designs for every aspect of your big day. They have save the dates, invitations, menus, programs, place cards…everything you could dream of. If you fall in love with a design, there’s a good chance that it may be part of a suit. That means that you can match everything from the save the dates, to the wedding invitation, to the menus at your wedding. Awesome, right?
I knew that I wanted my thank you cards to be memorable, so I decided to work with Minted to create them. It took us a long time to get our wedding photos back from our photographer and we weren’t sure how they were going to turn out. Luckily, when we finally did, we loved them! I wanted to find a design that would make our thank you photo shine.
If you’re a stationery nerd like me, you’ll want to hear about the different printing options that Minted offers. Foil-pressed cards are available and they come in gold, silver and my personal favourite- rose gold foil. Some of the cards are accented with foil within the design, and others are only on select words. Letter pressed cards are another classic option, and they are printed on heavy cotton stock.
My favourite part of the wedding website are the gold foil designs, so that’s where I started. The process was simple. I browsed through the different thank you card designs and can filter them by theme, colour or style. I was looking for a modern, whimsical style. I went with the Sparkling Night Sky card designed by Hooray Creative. It was available with rose gold foil, how could I resist?
Customizing the card was easy. All I had to do was upload my photo, and it was automatically placed into my design. I was able to edit the text and had the option to add my own custom message inside or a photo. I opted not to, so that I could write my own message. Once everything was arranged just so, I submitted my order and waited for the proof. You can have unlimited proofs with a designer that helps you out. I had my proof modified once to shift my photo over slightly.
A useful free feature is envelope addressing. Each Minted design comes with free envelope addressing! You can upload the addresses of your senders, and they will be automatically populated. You can choose the style of your envelope design. Voila, that was it! My design shipped from the USA and took 10 days to reach me, which I thought was pretty fast!
When our invitations arrived we were thrilled! The gold foil looks beautiful, and the print quality was great. The cards arrived in a bundle and each card was scored for easy folding. The envelopes are so cute!
I also ordered address labels for each envelope. I fell in love with these Hand Drawn Heart Skinny Wrap Labels. Aren’t they adorable? They wrap around the envelope. Ordering them was the easy part. Now for the hard part…writing all of my thank you cards! I get the feeling that I’ll be writing them all…but I’ll try to make my husband do his part. 🙂
