I was invited to the Hyatt Regency to experience a preview of the new menus that they were launching for February! The dishes we tried were from the King Street Social Winterlicious menu and the Valentine’s Dinner menu.
The lovely Hyatt team was on hand to explain the dishes. Nancy MacDonald (Director of Sales and Events), Chef Wesley Boodhram (Executive Chef) and Vivek Satoskar (Associate Director of Sales) were super friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes.
Although we tried an assortment of dishes, we mostly sampled the Winterlicious Menu. Here’s what we ate!

Tofu and Vegetable Steamed Wonton Soup:
Served with a lemongrass and tamarind gremolata and tamarind and soy miso
Tofu and Vegetable Steamed Wonton Soup was a hit. It had a non-traditional lemongrass flavour that I liked.

Red Oak and Aged Ontario’s Goat Cheese
With roasted pecans, grape tomatoes, soft herbs, sweet mirin vinaigrette

Grilled Chicken Satay
With a fresh pineapple and apple slaw, and a bambu kacang sauce
I loved this Grilled Chicken Satay, and especially the bambu kacang sauce. This is the appetizer that I would go with for Winterlicious.
We tried some main dishes from the Valentine’s Day menu, and the Winterlicous menu.

King Street Beef Lo Mein
Stir fried tofu and black bean, with ginger, crisp veg, snow peas, shitake, udon noodles
This delicious King Street Beef Lo Mein was from the Winterlicious lunch menu.

Homemade Tofu and Black Bean.
Stir fried tofu and black bean, with ginger, crisp veg, snow peas, shitake, udon noodles
The udon noodles are made in house in the Homemade Tofu and Black Bean dish.

Grilled beef tenderloin and butter poached jumbo prawn with cauliflower mash, heirloom carrots and horseradish reduction.
We somehow found room for dessert. I’m not really a creme brulee girl, but Chef Wesley’s amazing passion fruit creme brulee may have converted me! It was so good.

Passion Fruit Creme Brulee
We got a first hand peek at some of other dishes on the Valentine’s Day menu. I have my eye on the Brick Oven Baked Sweet Corn and Local Soft Goat’s Cheese Soup and the Portobello Mushroom en Croute, if anyone wants to take me out for a romantic 3 course Valentine’s Day meal! Check out the photo below to see menu items.
I enjoyed my Winterlicious meal. Are you still looking for a place to dine? It’s not too late to make a reservation at King Street Social for lunch or dinner. Valentine’s Day is also right around the corner if you are looking to impress a special someone!
