It’s finally summer. Aren’t you so glad that winter is over? Now is the best time to book your campsite with Parks Ontario. It’s always better to book early so that you can get the best spot! Nervous about camping? Attend a Learn to Camp event this summer to brush up on your camping skills! Here are my top campgrounds in Ontario.

Bon Echo:

Currently this park is my favourite place to camp! Hardwood Hills is my campground of choice. I love the huge old growth trees. Mazinaw Rock is gorgeous and it features over 260 Aboriginal pictographs. You can also hike it!

Sibbald Point:

This park has a beautiful sandy beach at the shores of Lake Simcoe. This site offers up 10 different campsites, fishing, sailing and canoeing. It’s very popular with families.

Sleeping Giant

img_2269If you live in Toronto, this park is quite a ways away. However, it’s totally worth it when you get there! You can check out their namesake, the sleeping giant, from a distance or you can get up close and personal by hiking to the top. There’s a mix of car camping and back country camping sites. The park has excellent trails for biking!

Awenda

My favourite thing about Awenda is their peaceful lake. It’s perfect for beginning boaters like me. They offer canoes and kayaks to rent, get there early! There are 6 different campsites for you to choose from.
