Dinner at Schnitzel Hub

1-IMG_0799Attention schnitzel lovers! There’s a new place to get schnitzel in town… Schnitzel Hub!

The new spot has a romantic vibe, and I think that it would be a great place for a first date. It’s cozy and warm, with fun decor. The restaurant specializes in Eastern and Central European cuisine. Think sausages, perogies, and of course, schnitzel.

1-IMG_0796Something else that’s really cool? They infuse their own vodkas! They start with a Smirnoff triple distilled vodka base, and then add fresh ingredients. Ginger, bacon, golden beet, Pinnamon (Pineapple and Cinnamon!)…they have it all! I didn’t end up trying any this time, but I will next time! Check out the flavours. We started our meal off with some appetizers and a salad.
1-IMG_0807Cucumber Dill Salad ($4.95) was a refreshing start to our meal and pretty telling of what was coming. (Huge portions!)

1-IMG_0803Perogies ($10.95) come in 4 varieties: potato cheddar, potato onion, sauerkraut mushroom and meat. We had the potato onion and they were pretty good! I think that next time I’ll try the meat ones.

1-IMG_0809This is a sampler of the Bratwurst…homemade sausage served with sauerkraut and mustard. Mmm.

Next was the main event. The schnitzel is a serious deal here…and it’s massive.

1-IMG_0814The Canadian Schnitzel ($19.95) topped with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions and cheese. This pan fried chicken cutlet is thinly breaded and served with spaetzle, German noodles.

It was so good, and so huge. It took up most of the plate. It was crispy and I enjoyed the melted cheese and mushrooms!

1-IMG_0812Fear not, vegetarians, you can also get a massive portion of schnitzel here. Pictured above is the Sesame Schnitzel ($20.95), which is breaded eggplant covered with tahini and zaatar.

Both of us couldn’t get through our schnitzel and packed the rest to go. This is definitely the place to go if you are super hungry! I would recommend splitting one or maybe skipping appetizers so that you can devour the entire cutlet. Check out the rest of their dinner menu.

1-IMG_0816That being said, it didn’t stop me from ordering a Chocolate Cheesecake to go. (Which was rich and chocolatey)

1-IMG_0797If you are a fan of huge portions, and schnitzel, then head to Schnitzel Hub for lunch or dinner! Find them in Toronto at 1415 Yonge St. (near St. Clair subway station).
