I have the sneaking suspicion that the staff at Maman recognize me. And it’s not for a cool reason, like, “Oh, that’s the girl that always wears the pretty vintage shoes!” No, it’s more like, “Oh, that’s the girl that’s here like, all. the. time.”
I can’t help it though. If you worked within walking distance of Maman, I’m sure you’d be here all the time too.
Because really, how could you stay away? This Toronto outpost of the popular SoHo NYC cafe serves up an array of tempting treats, with picture perfect vintage French decor.
Even the cups are beautifully designed by a Toronto textile designer.
And they have ceramic bunnies everywhere just because.
And of course, the pastries are amazing. They have a selection of yummy cakes, like pistachio and blueberry lavender.
Single madelines in a pretty jar for a quick treat.
They also bake fresh breads like chocolate brioche and matcha croissants.
My favourite is their chocolate chip cookies oozing with milk chocolate, walnuts and almonds. If you can manage to get one fresh out of the oven, it’s even more amazing!
For lunch they have savoury options such as quiches, croque mamans (a croque monsieur), salads and sandwiches. They also serve coffee, tea, and a lavender hot chocolate that I’m dying to try when the weather gets chilly.
Maman is located in First Canadian Place in the PATH, on the food court level. You can also access it from outside at 100 King Street W.
