There’s no better way to end your summer than with the Ex. The CNE throws open its gates on Friday. Aug. 16 until September 2.
I’m not going to lie, guys. My favourite part of the CNE is the
Food building. I will plan my meals to ensure that I hit that building at least two times a day. The home of beaver tails, red velvet pancakes, pizza cones and every cuisine under the sun can do no wrong.
New in the Food Building this year:
Hazelnut Heaven – Everything Nutella – from fries, spring rolls
GR Yogurt Fresh – Greek style yogurt with your choice of toppings
Hula Girl – Serving specialty coffees, espressos, infused sodas, pastries
Philthy Phil Philadelphia – Cheese steak sandwiches and salads
RYC Bar – R ice pudding in assorted flavours
Yogurty’s Froyo – Self – serve frozen yogurts
If that isn’t enough, check out the Food Truck Frenzy on Aug. 25th. Featuring over 20 food trucks from North America,this event is one of Canada’s largest food truck rallies.
When you’re done eating, take a stroll and check out an exhibit or free concert.
On the day of the wedding, it’s all about the bride, but now it’s time to shine a light on those
unsung heroines: the bridesmaids. This exhibit showcases dress, photos and stories from CNE
patrons who are looking to re-live that magical day…or to get a little revenge by letting the world see what the hideous/hilarious dress they were made to wear.
You can enjoy a great line-up of bands for free at the
CNE Bandstand! Two of the biggest bands will play during Labour Day weekend.
Catch Walk off the Earth on Aug. 30, and
Theory of a Deadman on Aug. 31.

The only thing that makes it bittersweet is that the CNE marks the end of summer to me…but that’s ok, I’ll make the ‘bitter’ go away with lots of bacon, and Nutella, and stroopwafels, and Tiny Tom donuts. LOL
