Backstage is always a flurry of excitement, but this year it seemed even busier than usual!
I caught up with Grace Lee, Maybelline New York’s Makeup Lead, backstage. She was creating the above look for Mackage.
For Mackage, the models were supposed to have pale, wintry skin. Grace used foundation several shades lighter than the models skin. When she was finished the skin had a very creamy look, like virgin skin that has never seen the sun.
Grace used a new foundation that was almost like an oil. She then created a strong black line and straightened off the edge to give it a modern, edgy look.
She then used concealer to reduce the black eyeliner and to ensure that the skin looked flawless.
She finished off with Maybelline’s Pumped Up mascara…
…and a nude lip.And…voila!
