A Date with Miss Fortune hits theaters today, and it’s hilarious!
What would you do if you fell in love with someone…but your fortune teller told you that he wasn’t the man for you? And your family hated him? This is the dilemma that Maria (Jeannette Sousa) is faced with. The story of her relationship with Jack (Ryan K. Scott), a struggling sitcom writer, is told while they sit in a diner together in a pretty clever way.
The movie can be a tad cheesy at points, but completely kept me entertained with some unexpected twists and funny scenes. I also fell in love with Jack’s best friend (Vik Sahay), who was a riot. This film tackles some interesting aspects of dating outside of your own culture. In this case, Maria is Portuguese, and Jack is…not.
The best thing about this movie? The two actors, Ryan K. Scott and Jeannette Sousa, are a couple in real life! You can also catch cameos by Nelly Furtado and George Stroumboulopoulos.
