I hope you are all doing well, staying inside and socially distancing from everyone. I’ve been staying inside, acquiring plants and trying to learn how to crochet amigurumi. I’ve also been missing my Toronto faves. One of my favourite things to do in the city is to visit different bakeries for desserts and fresh bread. Here are 3 spots where you can get a little pick me up.
Roselle is one of my favourite bakeries. Lucky for me, they’re within walking distance. The bakery hasn’t re-opened yet, but they are doing weekly pop-ups featuring their tasty desserts. I picked up their frozen chocolate chip cookie dough, and some of their cake cups at their last pop up.
Blackbird Baking Co
Every week, Blackbird offers home delivery or pick up. As someone who thrives on fresh bread, this has been a godsend. There are a few different ways to get the goods. You can order an individual or family bread pack. The individual pack comes with one white sourdough, brown sourdough, focaccia, ginger honey scone, cheddar jalapeno scone and their housemade granola. These packs sell out fairly quickly. if you weren’t fast enough to get home delivery, you can call ahead and have them put aside bread for you for same-day pick-up.
Before COVID-19 hit the city, I hadn’t actually visited Brodflour yet. In my quest to find fresh bread with a safe pick up option, I found this bakery. They make a variety of sourdough loaves and focaccia. They have a delicious cardamom knot, and a seasonal ramp sourdough bread that is amazing. You can call ahead to reserve your bread, or get it delivered.
Dipped Donuts make my favourite donuts in the city. Located in Kensington market, their teeny tiny shop is open for pre-orders and delivery. Their amazing London Fog donut is my go-to.
Prairie Boy Bread
This west end bakery whips up all sorts of sourdough bread, pizza and even has pantry staples. You can order ahead by phone or online here.
