I love to bake. I can bake cakes, pies, cookies, breads, you name it. There’s one basic recipe that strangely eludes me: chocolate chip cookies. For some reason, whenever I make chocolate chip cookies, they come out weird. They’re spread way too much, they turn into one giant cookie, they are too soft or don’t offer any crunch…you name it.
Enter the Redpath Canadian Sugar Bakebook. I’ve tried many different chocolate chip cookie recipes, and this is the one that helped my conquer my strange baking deficiency to make delicious chocolate chip cookies. The Redpath Sugar Bakebook is filled with 200 recipes to make brownies, cakes, cookies and breads. Today I’m sharing the chocolate chip cookie recipe with you. (more…)
This year was a huge one for me. I got married (!!), went on a honeymoon, and moved into one of my favourite areas of the city. I take so many photos, maybe more than ever before. I have photos on my cell phone and digital camera, photos that people sent me of my wedding, photos of my honeymoon and so much more. What I don’t have are tangible photos. I used to print my photos and put them in an album, but I don’t do that anymore. What if my laptop crashes and I lose all my photos? I’ve tried to make a goal for myself to print some photos, but I’ve definitely fallen behind this year.
Enter Chatbooks. Chatbooks gets it. Thanks to their super easy system, making your memories last forever in a pretty photobook is a breeze. I made my first Chatbook to celebrate my trip to Japan a couple of years ago. It was simple to do: I downloaded the Chatbook app, and was able to select my favourite photos to be published into a cute little book. It was a fast way to show off my trip and fit easily in my purse. I was hooked! (more…)
Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links for products I genuinely love! Although I partnered with Minted.com for this post, my opinion remains my own.
I love tangible things, like stationery. I love sending out real Christmas cards, I have a huge stash of beautiful note cards and enjoy picking out birthday cards for friends and family. I really enjoyed picking out my wedding stationery and even designing some myself. A few years ago, one of my friends sent me a beautiful thank you card for her wedding. I remembering flipping it over and noticing that it was from Minted. Even though I wasn’t engaged yet, I remember making a mental note to check out Minted when the time came.
Fast forward a couple of years later, and here we are! Minted.com is a website where you can pick out unique designs for cards, address labels, invitations, and so much more. They work with independent designers and even have their own designers on staff to whip up some custom designs for you, if you so desire. This year, Minted has branched out into the decor market for the holidays. They have gorgeous printed tree skirts and stocking with custom name plates. They even have cozy throws and throw pillows to make your living room extra festive.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of Rihanna’s new makeup line, Fenty Beauty. The line includes highlighters, primers, and of course, the fan favourite foundation with a whopping 40 shades for people of all colours. The foundation has been getting rave reviews from beauty bloggers, magazines, and everyday beauty lovers alike.
The foundation has medium coverage (buildable to full coverage) with a matte finish, and an oil-free formula. It also comes with 32ml of foundation instead of the traditional 30ml.To ensure that you’ll be matte for the whole day, the foundation is made with “climate-adaptive” technology resistant to sweat and humidity.
I received the foundation in Shade 370 which is a perfect match for my skin. When I first put on the foundation, I found it to be very natural looking on the skin, so it wasn’t very obvious that I was wearing foundation. The matte finish was also very nice, and made my skin very smooth. My favourite thing about this foundation is how long wearing it is.
I can definitely say that this is now my go to foundation when I know I won’t have time for touch-ups. I have worn it now about 3 times for 12 hour days, and to my surprise, when I come home my makeup still looks freshly applied.
I can’t wait see how this foundation performs in the summer months, but for now it will be great for holiday parties!
