Since you first got your period, so many things have changed. You got taller, you got bigger. You wear different sized clothing and your bra sized has changed. But what about your pad size? I chatted with Always, and I was shocked to discover that 77% of women say they no longer wear the same dress size from when they first got their period, but half of them still use the same size pad. That’s crazy if you think about it! More than two-thirds of Canadian women experience leaks during their period, and 60% of women are wearing the wrong sized pad. No wonder pads get a bad rap sometimes! Always wants to make this better. (more…)
A wedding is more than just a ceremony and a reception. There are so many little moments where you can let your personality shine through as a couple, stay true to your theme, or just have some fun. I’ve always been a fan of Homesense, but I’m an even bigger fan now that I’m planning my wedding!
I’m having a nautical themed wedding next month (ahhh!). I’m sticking with navy, white and blush, with pops of rose gold. Hoemsense has such a huge selection of items for every aspect of the wedding. Every Homesense store is different, so you never know what you may find. If you find something that you love, you should pick it up when you see it to avoid disappointment. For my wedding, I’m going to use decor from Homesense to enhance the space. (more…)
Now that summer is finally here, my Fit Chicks group has moved outside to a nearby park for our bootcamp! It’s nice to work out in the park. Although there are more bugs (ick) there’s also cute dogs and adorable children.
In class, we’ve been doing Tabatas, and I was surprised to discover that I like them! I didn’t know what Tabatas were, so you may not either. Tabata training is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT). It consists of eight rounds of ultra-high-intensity exercises in a specific 20-seconds-on, 10-seconds-off interval.
In class, we’ll do a set of lunges, fast punches and squats in this order. There are lots of different moves so you never get bored, and they are just short enough that you can get through them. It’s very efficient and is definitely a good workout. My body hurts in a good way after them!
July is coming fast! Are you interested in trying a Fit Chicks class? Head to the website, new bootcamps will start next week! http://www.fitchicks.ca
It’s Friday! On this rainy Friday I’d like to brighten it up a little with Disney!
As you may recall, I was super excited to see the live action of Beauty and the Beast earlier this year.
The film was perfect to watch if beauty and the Beast is one of your favourite movies. The film stayed true to the original while adding in some twists and turns such as a back story for Belle’s mother and a few new songs. The costumes and sets were beautiful. My favourite scene is the opening scene. I loved watching Belle sing through her French town and her indignation over Gaston’s attempts to court her. If you still haven’t seen this movie, now’s your chance! I’ve teamed up with Disney to give one lucky winner a copy of the Beauty and the Beast DVD packed the extras.
The winner will enjoy three ways to watch the movie – the original theatrical cut, the premiere cut with overture, and a musical experience with a sing-along version. The release invites viewers to get up close and personal with the filmmakers and cast to see how this beloved animated film was transformed into a new live-action classic, from the first enchanted table read to a fascinating look at how the film was brought to life utilizing lavish sets, elaborately designed costumes and props, and state-of the-art technology. A feature on the amazing women behind the enchanted tale hosted by Emma Watson; and over 10 minutes of deleted scenes along with musical extras, including the “Beauty and the Beast” music video starring Ariana Grande and John Legend, Celine Dion’s heartfelt take on the new song “How Does a Moment Last Forever,” and jump directly to all you favorite unforgettable songs.
Sounds awesome, right? To enter, please see below. The winner must live in Canada.
The weather is getting hotter, which means more oiler skin, and more blotting! It’s hard when you’re on the go to find that perfect product that will mattify your skin. Thankfully, Makeup Forever came out with with new Ultra HD Micro finishing Pressed Powder!
Powder in Shade 01 Translucent
More convenient than loose powder, because in the product comes in a little tin 6.2g square pan, perfect for putting in your purse on the go. The powder is one of the smoothest I’d ever felt!
The powder is light diffusing, ultra blurring, and promises to absorb oils with the help of silica and micronized pigments while illuminating features and a flawless finish.
It comes in 3 shades for every skin tone: 1 Translucent for light to medium skintones, 2 Banana for medium to tan skintones, and 3 Peach for tan to dark skintones. I received the translucent shade which can be used for every skin tone.
I used this powder to set my concealer before going out for a long day. The weather changed from moist and rainy, to humid and hot. The powder definitely held up well in my t-zone during all the changes! After I came back home my makeup was still in tact, and I was only a little bit oily!
Definitely a great alternative to loose powders when you’re oily and on the go!

Every so often, I get an even invitation that’s outside of my regular hood, but the invite sounds so tempting that I can’t resist! In this case, I trekked out to Etobicoke (okay, it’s really not that far but feels far coming from the east end!) to attend a dinner for Braiseryy. I was so glad that I did, because it was delicious, and I’ll definitely be visiting it again! (more…)
