[ Read it! ] Where to Go When

I love to travel. I’m constantly thinking of new places to go, and new things to see. I visit flight sale websites weekly, if not daily, and always have my next trip planned. One thing that I’m always obsessing about is, when should I go somewhere? What’s the weather like in Australia in August? When can I avoid hurricane season in the Caribbean?

In particular, I’ll be planning a honeymoon soon (yay!) and am trying to figure out what month to go. A book that’s been helping me out is the DK Eyewitness Travel Where to Go When: The World’s Best Destinations.

I can’t stress how awesome this book is. It breaks down each month and recommends the best places to travel.. Each month shares where you should go, what events are going on and a bit of history. It also has helpful information, such as should you rent a car, what will the weather be like, and how to get there.

I’m thinking about taking a honeymoon in August. The month of August starts with a suggestion of festivals, natural wonders, luxury and romance and active adventures.

Luxury and romance sounds perfect to me. The book suggests Verona, Italy, Sierra De Gredos, Spain and Mozambique, South Africa.

Mozambique sounds pretty interesting. The section suggests where to stay and an eight day itinerary. There’s also full colour photos of some popular destinations. In other words? It’s super helpful, and helps to give your trip some direction, or an idea of where to go.

It’s the perfect book to curl up with a cup of tea and daydream with, or to plan your next excursion. It would also be an amazing gift for your family and friends who always seem to be jetting off on another adventure.

Eat your way through Orlando

When I went to Orlando, I expected sunshine, beaches and a bit of Disney magic. I got all of that…with the added bonus of an assortment of delicious local foods.

My first meal was in the lovely B.Resort. I really enjoyed my stay here, but what I enjoyed even more was the food!

American Kitchen serves up fresh, local foods. They even grow their herbs in house. In the morning, they serve up a delicious breakfast buffet complete with Mickey waffles and custom made omelettes. I ate dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Some highlights include: (more…)

NARS Fall Colour Collection 2016

NARS has come out with some new products for lips, cheeks and eyes for Fall 2016, such as Contour Blushes, Velvet Eyeliner, and Mono Eyeshadows. Here are my favourites!

NARS Contour Blushes

Have you been searching for that perfect colour contour for your skin? Search no longer! NARS has come to the rescue for a variety of Contour Blushes for just about every skin tone. The darker shade is meant for bringing out cheekbones for a more chiseled look, while the lighter tone is for those areas of your face that look best illuminated such as the bridge of your nose. The shades are matte, and highly pigmented so a little goes a long way! My favourite is Talia, which is a combination of a dark brown and a pinkish beige perfect for my skintone.

Darklight Velvet Eyeliner

Forget about Racoon eyes, NARS has got you covered with their new Darklight Velvet Eyeliner! The liner comes in 9 pigmented, build-able shades so you can easily do a touchup after work. The creamy formula allows for easy application, and can easily be blended for a smokey nighttime look. My favourite shade is Black Moon.

Holiday Beauty Picks from ACI Beauty

The holidays are actually just around the corner! It’s time to start breaking out glittery eyeshadows, deep lipsticks and festive manicures. Here are my favourites from ACI.

If you want huge oversized lashes give Cargo Boundless Mascara ($20) a try! The oversized brush has 3 different textures so you can get maximum intensity. The soft bristle coats lashes with just enough product, the firm bristles gives increased volume, and spiked bristles gives defined curls and separation. I use all three for a dramatic holiday look.

With cold weather and snow comes watery eyes and runny mascara. Some waterproof formulas are not the best in lengthening and fanning out my lashes. Fusion Beauty has changed my opinion of waterproof mascara with their Xtension ($28) dramatically lengthening fibre mascara. With micro fibers and nourishing ingredients, it promises no smudges or clumps which has been great in cold weather! (more…)

Brill Communications Preview

Brill Communications held their annual Holiday 2016 and Spring Preview 2017 at the One King West Hotel. There was a variety of holiday treats, and items to look forward to for the new year. Here are some of my favorite.

ECCO COOL 2.0img_7178

Ecco has come out with a new innovate shoe that’s not practical but stylish as well. Ecco Cool 2.0 is a perfect shoe for those rainy days when you don’t want to pull out the rain boots, and still want to wear stylish sneakers with a button up blouse. The sneaker comes in black, pink, and white for women. The shoe is cool and breathable for all day wear, and although there are many holes in the design, the shoe is 100%waterproof. Available Spring Summer 2017

CONAIR

Conair has lots of new sparkly (literally) things in store for perfect holiday gifts! My favorite is the diamond infused hot paddle brush. This large brush is great for those with thicker hair which can take forever to straighten. With this paddle brush not only are you straightening your hair, but you are brushing it as well which is definitely a time saver. Some cool features of the brush are the diamond ceramic technology, as well as the silicone bristles for added shine. The brush can go up to 400 degrees, as well as heat up in 30 seconds. (Brush pictured on the left).

Fashionable and affordable brand express will get you holiday ready with their variety of sparkles, velvet, and suede clothes. My personal favorite are the sparkly jumpsuits and velvet booties which are popular with several New York editors.

RIMOWA LUGGAGE

The holidays can come with a lot of traveling, and with traveling comes lost luggage which can definitely put a damper on any holiday. Rimowa luggage brand just made your trip easier with a new digital check in for your luggage with the Rimowa electronic tag. Simply use your smart phone to check in and avoid lines. The addition can be found in select Rimowa models, and the feature is currently  in the works for North American airlines.
