[Win it!] Tickets to the Toronto Cider Festival

1-TCF-128

In a couple of weeks, the second annual Toronto Cider Festival rolls into Dundas Square on Saturday August 27, 2016. If you’re a cider lover, you’re not going to want to miss this chance to try over 40 different ciders from 20 different cideries from across Canada and abroad. Last year the festival sold out, so you’re definitely going to want to get your hands on some tickets early.

In the evening, A VIP session takes place; providing exclusive early admission to the evening session, 10 sample tokens and access to a “Food and Cider Pairing” discussion led by Doris Miculan Bradley – a 20-year industry professional and the Canadian Brand Ambassador for The Wines of Vinho Verde.

As a bonus for attendees, this year there will be some pretty awesome contests at the festival. (more…)

Dinner at SCADDABUSH in Scarborough

I always celebrate when new restaurants open up in Scarborough. When those restaurants also serve up fresh mozzarella? Well, then I rejoice.

SCADDABUSH has set up shop in Scarborough, just across from Scarborough Town Centre. I was so exicted, that I partnered with SCADDABUSH to host an event to celebrate their launch and their charity partnership.

So why do I like them so much? Well, first off, they make a lot of their delicious dishes in house. Pasta is made daily, and you can watch fresh mozzarella being made before your eyes at the mozzarella bar. (I also am in love with the light fixtures. They’re so cool!) (more…)

Heartless Girl Guide to Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland

1-IMG_4841

When I started planning my Porter Escape to St.John’s, I knew that I wanted to visit Gros Morne National Park. This amazing national park is massive and diverse. Here, mountains, beaches, bogs, lighthouses and more can be found. The park also has some of the highest density of moose in the world. Alas, I didn’t see any moose, but maybe next time.

Getting there

Gros Morne is considerably far from St.John’s. Over 600 kilometers away, to be exact. If you feel up for a road trip, you can get there within 6 hours driving from St.John’s. On the way, you can stop at Twillingate and go whale watching, or catch a glimpse of icebergs depending the time of year. If you’d prefer to fly, you can fly to Stephenville, Newfoundland and then drive for about 2 hours to reach the park. Or, you can fly to Deer Park, Newfoundland and driving for half an hour to the park. (more…)

Estée Lauder Fall Preview

Fall is my favourite time for both makeup and fashion. I was invited to a preview by Estée Lauder to see what they have in store for fall! has introduced a variety of new products to the beauty market for fall. Here are some of my favorites:

Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm ($48.00)

One of my favorite products is the Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm. This formula is great for taking off face and eye makeup at the end of the day, while leaving your skin feeling moisturized.  What’s so unique about this product are the changes that happen as you apply it to your skin. It first applies as a balm, and as blended into your skin, the formula transforms into an oil, and finally the formula turns into a washable emulsion. (more…)
