We were SO LUCKY to be in Japan during cherry blossom season. It was amazing and insane. Everything was sakura (cherry in Japanese!) themed. Vendors set up stalls in parks, selling all kinds of treats, including fish on sticks. People picnicked under the blossoms. Temples and parks offered night time illumination events.
Even the restaurants got into it! Starbucks had a special sakura blossom menu that included special drinks, cherry blossom cake and beautiful mugs that I was unable to get my hands on. McDonalds had sakura french fries, sakura milkshake and a sakura burger. (The sakura fries were delicious.)
Here are my photos from visiting the cherry blossoms in April in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.
The PC Spring Collection is beautiful! Inspired by water, this collection has gorgeous graphic prints, gradient mixing pots and pretty patio furniture. The textile collection is inspired by water, and it shows!

Reds Midtown Tavern is a cozy, elegant restaurant steps away from the Eaton Center and Dundas Square. I hadn’t been there since I visited for their grand opening a couple of years ago, so I was happy to go and try their steak! (more…)
My first phone was a Motorola. I still remember that Motorola C333. We’ve come a long way since then, but my love for Motorola hasn’t wavered. If anything….with the addition of Android, it’s grown! I was very happy to get my hands on a Moto X 2014 to take with me on my trip to Japan earlier this month. I’m already a happy owner of a Moto X first generation.
One of the things that I loved about the Motorola X in the USA was that you could customize the back with wood, leather, or whatever colour you wanted. I was a little disappointed that in Canada, the first gen Moto X only came in black and white. When I was sent a Moto X with a bamboo back, I was thrilled! (Get one here!) (more…)
I think that Susan Juby could write anything, and I would devour it. Her topics are always so varied -a chicken farm, a teen P.I, a young girl coming of age in BC- and all addictive. I even read her autobiography (I typically don’t read non-fiction) about alcohol abuse, and really enjoyed it.
In her new book,The Truth Commission, Susan brings her sharp humor, loveable characters and trademark wit to Green Pastures Academy of Art and Applied Design.
Normandy Pale has tasked herself and her friends with chase the truth…no matter the cost. They aim to get to the heart of gossip, and to discover secrets.
In true “Truth Commission” fashion, here are my two truths and a lie.
1. I was stuck in Egypt for days during the revolution in 2011.
2. I missed my connecting flight to Japan from Detroit.
3. I tried to get into the wrong car at a subway kiss and ride…repeatedly.
Find out the lie after the cut! (more…)
