Rudsak at World Master Card Fashion Week

I checked out the Rusdak show at Toronto World Master Card Fashion Week. From the very beginning of their show, Rudsak owned the runway. The show started off with heavy electronic music and galaxy star projections and it was all up hill from there! The show was very dark. Black and brown leather paired with synthetic materials, , jackets with edged with large fur trim, ribbed leather skirts and knee high leather boots.

The Krups Barista

Imagine rolling out of bed and walking down to the kitchen. You select your name on the coffee machine screen, press a button and presto: your drink is ready and waiting for you. Kinda like having your own personal barista.

The new Krups Barista lets everyone in your house (up to 8!) store their own personalized coffee recipe under the  “Favourites” setting, so that it can be ready at the push of a button.  With this top of the line machine you can choose the strength of your brew,  temperature and more. It grinds coffee beans and froths milk to a perfect foam. It can create picture perfect lattes, cappuccinos and espresso. The Barista also self cleans. I wish my kitchen could have one of these!

This state of the art coffee machine will be hitting shelves in April! It’s also touring around Canada, and is in Toronto (Pearson Airport) today! To see what other locations the Barista will be visiting, visit the Krups Facebook page. Take a peek at the machine in the video below.

Meatless by Martha Stewart

I’ve been trying to find a way to incorporate more veggies in my diet, and Martha Stewart’s newest collection of recipes is helping me do just that.  Meatless is a tasty collection of over 200 recipes that include everything but meat. Perfect for vegetarians, Meatless Monday, or just delicious side dishes.

Roasted Potatoes with Romesco Sauce

Frittata with Asparagus, Goat Cheese and Herbs

These recipes range from quick and easy to prepare to more elaborate. Choose from soups, salads, brunch options, pasta and more!

I also love the little extras that are included in this book. There is a great section on “Versatile Vegetarian Pesto Variations” that I can’t wait to try this summer with veggies from my garden! Smoky Bell Pepper Pesto is clearly something my life needs more of!

Another awesome thing is the appendix that is full of basic recipes (vegetable stock) and basic tips for new cooks (how to blanch and peel tomatoes)

This is the perfect book to round out your cookbook collection! Check it out here.

March 20th is Macaron Day TO

It’s back! On March 20th, pop into a participating bakery and pick up a macaron for free! Just let them know you are participating in Macaron Day TO.

While you are at it, buy some macrons to go! A portion of the day’s macaron sales from every participating location will be donated to the Red Door Family Shelter.

For your macaron eating pleasure, I recommend La Bamboche, Bobette & Belle and Moroco Chocolat.
